Don't get me wrong...I'm pretty happy with Stafford's play...but I think we have to talk about these issues where he really has problems:

1. Pressure up the middle...which reminds me of Goff. Stafford has problems escaping this pressure and it seems he just can't see it coming.

2. In tight games Stafford seems to really have accuracy issues...ESPECIALLY on short passes either throwing high or into the ground. Really noticed in the SF game..just flat tentative throws.

3. INTs!!! Nuff said.

Let's talk about this because I think one thing McVay MUST DO is roll Stafford out of the pocket more this game to give him more time...and also call more quick 6-7 yard passes and keep the Cards D off balance!

He’s not supposed to be looking at the rush so it’s not surprising that he takes some hits when the Oline breaks down. I don’t see that as an issue against the cards especially in the middle unless they bring a lot of A gap blitzes.

Don’t see the tight game issues particularly, he’s had that issues all year long and I’m not so sure it’s him. It doesn’t seem to be a problem with Kupp.

Second half of Ravens and first half of 9ers combined 27 of 28.

If the Oline plays well against the cards, and I believe they will, Stafford won’t be a problem.

* QBs are always reading defenses presnap. The better QBs see the pressure coming and very often "hot read" the blitz. One thing McVay seems to not have in the offense is the "hot read".

* There's more than Kupp on the field. Higbee, Skow, OBJ, and Jefferson. Many of us wonder about McVay's tendency to forget about Higbee in the offense too. A big hot target. Kupp often draws attention that can get them open.

*If you haven't seen how tentative Stafford can get in tight I don't know what to say. It's glaring!

The Ravens game makes my point...Higbee was huge in that game!

As for the OLine...I have no issues there. They've been pretty consistent.

It is what it is at this point. We have to take the bad with the good. Let Stafford/McVay put the best scheme together and see if the OL keeps Stafford clean. Let her rip!!!

I think it's really simple. Rams either protect Stafford or they go home.

We can complain about the trade and go over value and what we got and the difference in the QBs. But all that really matters right now is Stafford gets into bad habits when the pressure spikes. So knowing that you fix the protections as much as you can and mix in the run to balance things to favor our OL.

If they do that then I think Stafford has a chance to do some good things.

Re: the Cards they have a really good defense. But they're prone to being run on. So from both sides it's pretty clear the Rams gameplan will be to run the ball. Or hey maybe it won't. Maybe McVay will show he knows better. We'll see, but for me it's one game at a time and enjoy the moment. Feels good to know we have a chance to make a run. So let's bitchslap these Cards.

Stafford does a great job of pre-snap reads he checks out of plays all the time because of that.

Tight games -see game winning 4th q and OT drives.

I think he's got a pretty good grasp of the offense yes. But I will observe here that I detest them taking until 1 second every fucking snap to get the play off.

Sometimes it almost seems like overanalysis. I'm sure it's possible to overdo that shit and when your coach has to call timeouts every game to avoid penalties one could argue you have reached that point.

Baltimore game says hello. He was pretty doggone accurate in this tight game....
That was a peculiar game anyway...so really I throw it out because for a while nothing was going right in that game. It was just weird!

Pressure up the middle isn’t Arizona’s forte. Of their 41 sacks, 0 came from the NT spot and only 7 came from 3-4 DEs. Most came from edge rushers Marcus Golden and Chandler Jones.

That record is mainly playing for Detroit. Take a look at him for this year. He hasn't had to come from behind much at 12-5.

Been a lot better this year than others with burning TOs. I think when they are trying to burn clock that is normal, I haven’t noticed him doing it all the time.

Huh, why it doesnt count? Guy has the MOST 4th quarter comebacks of any QB in the last 7-8 years whatever it is, those don't count either???
You miss my point. All I'm saying is Stafford's on a much better team. He hasn't had to do the comebacks like in Detroit. That's just a fact!

Football, and the QB position in particular, is very, very hard.
That point gets skewed when we see the results from a Rodgers, Mahomes or the cheater. They are just so far from the norm. QB's make mistakes, have bad stretches. Heck, Garoppolo was trash for the first 29 minutes, 22 seconds of the game and had appeared to had thrown a game losing INT in the 4th where they could have taken a 7 point lead, instead the Rams took advantage of the pick and turned it in to 6. Alas...

I am blindly (& baselessly) going with the theory that Stafford pulls the reigns in a bit for the playoffs and is less gunslinger. Regular season Mistakes go away and we ride off into the sunset with a SB championship.

I think win or lose Stafford is damn good and makes me look forward to at least the next 2 or 3 seasons. Is he Tom Brady good? Mahommes good? Or Rodgers maybe not.. but hes a tough sumbitch and ill ride with that dude anyday. We could do alot worse than Matt Stafford. Coach needs to call the right plays and the oline needs to block better... lets go!

The games where Stafford fell apart, the common theme is the defensive line is getting to him easily. Without blitzing, just man handling our line. He gets to a point where he's literally trying super hard to stay on his feet or get rid of the ball prematurely before taking a snap and forcing passes. Games where he's well protected, he's not making those ill mistakes. Sometimes I watch the game and think, "get rid of the ball" and then they show another angle (usually QB perspective) and see that some of our plays take time to evolve and line doesn't give him that time
