Great topic.

I love A Perfect Circle, but "The Nurse Who Loved Me" is a absolutely awful song

Actually, I think that song is hysterical -- the music sounds like a medication-induced stupor, and the lyrics pretty much back it up. Maynard was going for humor on this one, and IMO he nailed it.

I kinda get the humor in it. I mean I know Maynard wasn't trying to create a masterpiece. It was more of a comic relief song. But, that whole album kicks ass and I think it completely messes up the flow of the music. Had they gone with "The Outsider", "Crimes"(which is very much a continuation), and then "Pet"(instead of "The Nurse That Loved Me"), it would have been soooo much better.

I probably wouldn't dislike the song as much as I do if they would have made it a hidden track or something at the end of the album.

I love A Perfect Circle in part because they are one of the few bands that seams to care about the integrity of the album as a whole. Its a piece of work. That song just screws up the flow on the 13th Step.

Here's another...

Just clarify my choices...it has nothing to do with lyrical content and everything to do with it sonically and as a piece of music. That Billy Joel tune does have an interesting message...but for me the music itself is awful.

Fair point -- given the intensity of the surrounding songs in the track list, it IS a bit of a momentum killer.

I'm a huge MJK fan...managed to hit the Maynard hat trick over a 6-month period, catching a show with each of his 3 bands:

A Perfect Circle in July 2011 (Philly Festival Pier)
Puscifer in November 2011 (Tower Theater, Philly)
TOOL in January 2012 (Susquehanna Bank Center, Camden NJ)

Even managed to get my hands on a couple bottles of his Caduceus wine -- the shit's pretty good.

Dude that is freaking awesome. I love all three of his bands, but have never had the chance to see any of them live. I have heard Tool puts on an amazing show.

KISS and anything that they did to remotely resemble the disco era.

God damn right. Man they sucked when they got into that whole "glam" movement.
Plus once Ace and Peter left, it was all down-hill anyway.

I used to love them before they turned into this.
