I'm looking for any input as to what kind of smoker you all use. I know some on here (Bonifay and Rhody) use a smoker quite a bit. My old weber bbq grill I use to smoke with has about had it and I'm looking to get a new one before the wedding, but am on a budget. I know the Brinkman smokers are low budget and do work effectively as I've had one before. I'm looking at a little more upscale.

I'm liking this smoker, a Weber Smokey Mountain, but I can afford the 14.5 inch one @ $199, but want the 22.5 inch one for $399.

Looking into these but not sure how they work. I have never used one before.

Any help/input is much appreciated.

Smoke Hollow is a brand I used and I had no complaints. And it was propane which was easy and convenient. I'd highly recommend it. When I moved to Florida from Ohio I gave it to a friend and she and her husband rave about it.

An UDS is the cheapest way to go & they are really easy to make. They hold temps very well. Besides you already have an old Weber grill. The lid & the grate fit perfectly in a 55 gallon drum. The best part about them is you can modify them as you. Don't get a drum with a liner though. They are a bitch to get the lining out. Go here & check out a few builds. http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/f/199/uds-builds Mine has a double rack.

The Chargriller is what PhxRam has & it's fairly easy to use. Weve cooked a ton of meat on it. You can also use it as a regular charcoal grill & has a lot of grill space. I've heard good things about the Weber Smoky Mountain but have never used one. Another one to look at is http://pitbarrelcooker.com/

These are great but $$$$$$.

I know what you mean,,, but I can honestly say that purchasing it was worth every penny. One of the best things I've ever bought. It does way more than a smoker too.

Big Green Eggs are about $800 LOL.. looked into one when I wanted to upgrade my little Brinkman, which was my first. I modified it by adding a thermometer and repositioning the legs to make it easier to add more wood during long smokes.

Jeff I have the Weber 18.5 " Weber and I love it. Just had a stone mason over the house to discuss my next project, which hopefully people here will be a part of. Details coming soon ;)

oh and BTW, the website that @Cardncub posted..smoking-meat.com has alot of great recipes and a few different techniquies to try also. They also send out a weekly newletter, or at least they used to, with a new recipe. I stopped getting the newletter mainly because I have a ton of different recipes already, but I did print some up from there
