Jaren Hall is projected as a 3rd or 4th round pick. What will likely drop him in the draft is his height at 6'1" (the same as Mayfield). He doesn't have the strongest of arms but can make all the NFL throws. He's got good accuracy with good arm strength at all 3 levels. Hall has excellent mobility but will also go through his progressions while in the pocket (i.e. a pocket passer first but who can run when things breakdown.).

He is considered a 1 to 2 year project which is why he is expected to drop. He would not be over drafted at 36 if he has a good showing in the Senior Bowl. He very well could be on the board when the Rams pick in the third round. He could be a value backup for years or he has the potential to develop into a good starting QB with good coaching in a good schematic offensive fit. I'd rather have Hall in the 3rd than a retread vet.

I still feel Mayfield is still likely to be resigned by the Rams. I don't think Mayfield will get the kinds of offers he might be envisioning. Carr, Rodgers, Smith, Jimmy G are all more likely to go ahead of Mayfield. Anywhere else and Baker would be looked at as more of a bridge starter than a franchise QB. The Fins are still debating whether to exercise the 5th year option for Tua. They might still try to trade him before the draft. He will have a bigger market than Mayfield as well.

Personally, I would be among those that favor drafting a QB who offers a backup option this year with starting potential from 2024 onward. Otherwise, the Rams would be wise to hold on to their first round picks pending what will happen with Stafford. Regardless I honestly don't see Stafford starting at best after 2025.

Baker still is the best option for the Rams as a backup this year and starter in 2024. Otherwise, the Rams will have to hope Stafford holds up through 2024 which IMO is a risk. And they will be drafting a QB in 2024 and hope Stafford can play 2 more years. A bet I wouldn't want to take.

Carson Wentz?

Would rather take a flyer on a draft pick than most veteran backup QBs. You know what Wentz (and most other backup QBs) is... might get lucky in the draft on a day 2/3 pick. I would be ok with keeping someone like Mayfield due to chemistry with McVay but would need to be well priced.

I doubt the Rams will sign a vet backup. Even a guy like Wentz would cost more than Wolford or a day 3 rookie. I'd prefer the day 3 rookie over Wolford but McVay seems to like him for some strange reason.

Later round rookie for back up is the best option. 1- you might hit on a Purdy like guy. 2- extremely cheap option. 3- if Stafford goes down we aren’t winning anything this year regardless may as well develop a young guy. Wolford is god awful

This who I'm all in for: Clayton Tune QB Houston Cougars

2023 NFL DRAFT UPDATE: 10 SENIORS WHO GENERATED BUZZ AMONG NFL SCOUTS IN WEEK 1

Houston QB Clayton Tune

Week 1 stats: 22-of 32 for 206 yards and three TDs, with 51 rushing yards and another TD during a 37-35 triple-overtime win over UTSA.

Nagy’s take: “There were a bunch of great down-to-the-wire games in Week One, but none were more thrilling than Houston’s 37-35 triple-overtime win over UTSA. Clayton Tune was streaky on junior tape and his ball placement wasn’t always perfect last Saturday, but he impressed us with his mobility and came up big in clutch moments when his team needed him to make a play, including the leaping game-winning score on a two-point conversion. Live exposures are always important to gauge a quarterback’s arm strength, and Tune’s arm is more than good enough to play at the next level. Coaches rave about the work he put in this offseason to change his body, and our scout was most impressed with his ability to scramble and make plays with his legs. Tune is currently graded as a middle-round prospect by most NFL teams we’ve spoken with, and he’ll definitely be in the mix for a Senior Bowl invitation later this fall.”

Current Projected Round: Round 6th

I'd much rather roll with Clayton Tune than Wolford or Perkins (and we have 49 6th rounders this year). Plus he'd be cheap asf and be able to absorb McVay's offense and Stafford's tutelage for 3-4 years. 6'3 220.

He has a ton of snaps, accuracy, and fast decision making, arm strength isn't amazing but it's not a liability.

Not sure why I like this kid so much, but he seems to have the ability to take a sad song and make it better. He can extend plays, but is never going to be confused with a running QB and does have the arm to make all the throws necessary at the next level.

But his name is just great, after a touchdown, we can all yell in unison...Name that Tune or after beating the Niners, their fans can enjoy the moody blues. So many options with a great name like that. Now if the Rams trade Ramsey and acquire a first round pick, beware of them taking QB Anthony Richardson out of Florida, however, Tune would be my choice as a developmental late round QB to serve as the understudy to John Matthew Stafford.

With the Colts he was brought in by a coach who wanted him, where he knew the system and had a good ground game behind him and he tanked. The guy can't take criticism which means he can't be coached. Superb talent but thin skin and mentally weak so pass on this clown.

I'll take a QB who is lower talent but intelligent and works/competes hard over the talented shitter. That's what we need behind Stafford, a guy who is ready to come in and compete when needed. Not a guy who's gonna act like a bitch on the depth chart.

First off, Matt Staffords’ first name is John? Wtf? Lol

Haha i don’t know why I didn’t even think of his last name but love the idea Whiner fans having to listen to the Tune of the Moody Blues!!! :laugh2:

Dude if we do get a high pick from trading Ramsey no way in F we pick up Anthony Richardson! lol I’d be shocked asf!! For sure I’d think they’d pick up a premier OT or pass rusher! Plenty of depth at CB.

That Tune seems to me like he’s got a Kirk Cousins feel to him.

If Troy Reeder makes you look bad, it's time to find something else to do.
Interesting in a side note kinda way.......

Troy Reeder is mentioned as a huge liability in the Rams 2021 defense (rightfully to a degree) but going 16-5, winning the SB with Reeder in the middle isn't mentioned as a positive when it comes to Morris' coaching ability.
