San Francisco 49ers

On January 29, 2017 Lynch was named the new General Manager of the San Francisco 49ers. His first move as GM was to sign Mike Alstott as player coach (fullback purposes). This made him the first player coach in NFL since Lance Bass held the same role with the Cleveland Browns during the 2001 football season.

As I recall, another team hired a former player who only had experience as a TV analyst to be their GM. It worked out brilliantly. The Detroit Lions will never forget all the playoff appearances that Matt Millen brought them.

They can probably still work together, but you're hiring a guy who has already publicly stated some level of distaste with your coaching hire.
