Does it really count if he needs 17 games though
Can't say that considering Dickerson broke OJ's in 15 games when he hit 2003 in 14 games.

Having said that, the biggest difference is Barkley has Hurts at QB, Dickerson had Jeff Kemp and still carried them to 10 wins and a playoff spot. I mean every team focused solely on stopping Dickerson. Not to mention defenses are built today to stop the pass so it's a bit easier running over 225 lb LBs nowadays vs 240-250 lb guys like Harry Carson.

Of course it does! The record is for most rushing yards in a single season. The number of actual games played in a season has increased over the years, helping some rushers to reach 2000 yards or (in Eric the Great's case) to dethrone the incumbent record holder.

Eagles might lose their shot at a no 1 seed this week and have little to play for in week 18. That could be interesting.

I think they need both Detroit and Minnesota to lose to still have a shot at the 1 seed

.

So the Eagles have zero chance of getting the #1 seed or losing the #2 seed.

Will they risk Barkley for some individual record?

I think he had 31 carries in todays game. They are playing with injury dynamite

It looks to me like the Rams and the Eagles are the only two NFC teams that will likely rest starters.

The Eagles would be utter idiots to play starting lineman to get Barkley the record. Though I expect they would.

Maybe he just wanted the 2000 yards in this week's game knowing he would rest next week?
