.

Very well respected and experienced guy. He, like Ryan, has been dealt a bad hand with personnel in the past on his defenses. The question is, with these established guys, will they want to install much of their own defense or work with the current system? I think that the buck stops at them doing it Fisher's way. A guy like Jauron would probably be great with the Rams, let's see if Fisher thinks he fits.

lol. Wikipedia said, "Fuck it. Let's just go ahead and make him the DC right now."

Richard Manuel Jauron (born October 7, 1950) is a coach in the National Football League. Most recently hired as defensive coordinator of the Saint Louis Rams. He was the head coach for the Buffalo Bills from 2006 until November 2009. Jauron has previously held head coaching positions with the Chicago Bears and, on an interim basis, with the Detroit Lions. Jauron was named the AP Coach of the Year in 2001 after leading the Bears to a 13-3 record, but this was his only winning season as a head coach in the NFL.

I saw the same thing when I went to Rob Ryan's page a while ago.

But I wouldn't mind this, Browns have had a good defense. Why was he fired anyway?

No idea. Change for the sake of change, I guess. They hired Ray Horton in the hopes he'll somehow magically turn around the Franchise. They did rank 23rd in yards allowed last year, but I don't think that means anything, really.

They switched to a 3-4 last year. Maybe they want someone with more experience running it. Idk

Don't really know how I would feel about this either. I will back whoever Fisher wants, but still iffy about it.

Jauron feels heavily recycled to me. Not all that excited to hear his name.

When it comes to fire, he's the exact opposite of Ryan.

I'd be much more happy if they hire Jauron then I would have been if they hired Ryan.

Jauron is a 4-3 guy who has usually had Ds in the upper half of the NFL.

He got head coaching jobs for a reason.

Good point.

At this point Jauron > McGinnis. I like McGinnis, but Jauron would be so much better. Did wonders for the Browns defense the past 2 seasons. Get er' done Fisher!

If you want the antithesis of Rob Ryan enter Dick Jauron...Jauron is a Yale Gradute, however, if you look at his defenisve rankings I think you will find them less impressive than Ryan's and I have always felt Jauron ran a defense that was not very aggressive.

There is also some irony because the reason he got the Bear Head Coaching job was because of a PR Snafu because the Bears intended to hire Dave McGinnis, but made the announcement before a contract was signed...Back then, that was an issue today it's S.O.P.

Overall I am just hoping that if Jauron is the hire his defense will be much more aggressive than in the past.

IF its DJ I'm surprised. Nothing against him or his schemes; he is solid, respected, etc. I just don't see anything about him that screams "attack" or "turnovers". He certainly has saw every Offense known to mankind but if he is able to elevate this D then that is another thing to me.

Looking forward to how it plays out.
