Can compensatory picks be traded in the real NFL draft this year - or is it next year that the new rule takes effect?

I'm unaware of any actual or proposed changes to the NFL's prohibition to trading these picks. Can you provide a link to an article that supports your contention?

Owners OK trading of compensatory picks, shorten legal tampering window

NFL owners approved two changes Wednesday that might have an effect on the NFL draft starting in 2017 and free agency in 2016.

The owners, who are meeting in Irving, Texas, voted to allow compensatory draft picks to be traded beginning in 2017 and also voted to shorten the "legal tampering window" before free agency from three days to two.

In the past, compensatory picks -- awarded to teams for losing a certain number of free agents -- have not been tradeable.

The "legal tampering window" is a time period for player agents to contact teams about free agents before the official league year begins.

Dialogue between teams and free agents is permitted, but they are prohibited from coming to contractual terms until the market opens.

I like getting the Eagles, a Team I am familiar with! But I'm already thinking about Trading down, as I have "NO" second round pick!! Thank Chipper!!

I thought about that when I saw you got the Cheatriots. :whistle::LOL:
My daughter made every single pick @Riverumbbq . I had small folded pieces of paper with numbers between 1 through 11 (1 through 10 for Group 3) in a Nyquil measuring cup. She picked a number and I wrote it down. She continued picking numbers until they were all gone. She did this three times. I gave 4th number picked to the 4th GM listed for that group. So if the number 6 was the 4th number picked it was assigned to the 4th GM listed in group 2 (jsimcox in this example). The 4th GM then got the 6th team in the drafting order for that group which in this example would have been the Packers. Had the Cheatriots not lost their pick they would have drafted right before the Cardinals with the 29th pick in the draft so they were given the 8th team in the group. I would have done the picking myself but I wanted to be able to say that I wasn't responsible for the distribution of the teams. I wasn't responsible for the team that any GM got. There, that felt good.:hiding:
