Ram bastids!

I met Chuck Knox during my stint as a room service attendant at the Anaheim Marriott when he got rehired.

I've told this story like 10x on ROD but for this day i will repeat it for an eleventh and final time

I had a mid-shift position which was after the breakfast rush and before dinner - and it's not lunch cause everyone in he hotel is gone - so all you basiclaly did was deliver fruit baskets to rooms and restock bars.

Well I had gotten the ticket with the name Knox to restock his bar. When i went in he wasnt there but I saw he had a Seahawks lighter, so being a die-hard Ram fan I liberated it from his possession. I showed it to my other buddy Chris who i thinkwas the only other Ram fan in OC at the time and we sparkes that thing until it died.

But i actually met him!
A few days later I got another ticket for a club samdwich or whatever marked Knox - this time he was in the room and I welcomed him back to the Rams and explained how much I loved my team. He was the over it. He just wanted to sign the check and fet me out. Now i was in a pot fueled haze full-time back in the 80's 90's etx them but I recall telling Coach Knox to draft one of the Rocker brothers with the second round pick - but he went and drafted Isaac Bruce like a numbskull - to this day I ask mysef what could have been

Awesome story bro, thanks for sharing it.

Even to this day when I buy hamburger meat and it says “Ground Chuck” i snicker to myself for a minute and think of coach Chuck with admiration.

In five seasons as the Rams head coach the team won five straight NFC West titles with five different starting quarterbacks (John Hadl, Ron Jaworski, Pat Haden, James Harris, and Joe Namath) and had a regular season record of 54-15.

He just just before my time in his first tenure but my uncles always told me how great a coach he was.

When he made his comeback in the 90’s
It didn’t quite work out with the ground chuck approach but he still goes
Down as one of the revered coaches in Ram history.

RIP Chuck.

I am sadden at a lost of our legendary Head Football Coach. The 1973 Los Angeles Rams is one of the main reasons I became a Ram fan and Chuck Knox was at the helm of one heck of a football team. My thoughts and prayers go out to Chuck's family and he was truly a special person.

I remember reading a few years ago, that his grand daughter started to do research on Knox and she found out just what one heck of a football coach he was. I found that amusing, that she had to read about it and I lived it. God Bless Coach Knox and thank you sir for all the memories.

And I always loved Knox's Six P's.....Perfect Practice Prevents Piss Poor Performance". "The Difference
