Sometimes, NFL coaches and players just want to get their frustrations off their chests. They all know that the one thing you can't get away with is publicly ripping officials, but once in a while, the fine is worth it to vent.

Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes were critical of an instantly infamous offsides penalty on Kadarius Toney that wiped away a spectacular touchdown that would've give the Kansas City Chiefs a late lead on the Buffalo Bills. Then the bills came due, as expected.

The fines were for different violations, but both came back to public displays of blasting officials over the Toney call. Reid was fined $100,000 for criticizing the officials to the media after the game, and Mahomes was fined $50,000 for "abusive, threatening or insulting language to officials" and public criticism of officials

Mahomes was yelling at the officials while coming off the field after a turnover on downs late in the game, and he continued his tirade from the sideline. He also complained about the call after the game, even when he met Bills quarterback Josh Allen at midfield. He continued to question the call in his postgame media conference. Mahomes later apologized, particularly for how he handled the situation with Allen.

Reid said the officials should've given the Chiefs a warning before flagging Toney and said the officiating situation was "a bit embarrassing" for the league. All of it seemed a little funny when replays showed that Toney was clearly offsides, and Reid admitted Monday that Toney never checked with the official to see if he was lined up right.

Both Reid and Mahomes had to know they would be fined. The NFL certainly wasn't going to let either of them get away with blasting the officials, especially after they made the right call.

Mahomes rips the officials and gets a $50k fine. Fitzpatrick intentionally snaps chubb's leg in half and gets nothing. Fuck off nfl.

.

I imagine Mahomey is feeling more pain from the embarrasment right now for being a jackass than that fine. He probably has $50k in his seat cushions.

In attacking the league's officials, one is regarded in attacking the league itself. The idiotic league essentially takes the position that it is virtually infallible, and virtually all attacks are subsequently fined as a disrespectful attack on 'Big Daddy.'

I feel both Robert "The Mighty" Quinn and AD99 should both sue the NFL out if house & home for flagrant violations of the league's own rules for not insisting their officials hold opponents accountable for blatant holding violations. They both have an abundance of video evidence.

So Mahomes is now this generations Crybaby Brady?

I mean look at the comparisons( not championships/awards)
Both cry about penalties that helped them win superbowls LMAO
Both play(ed) in divisions that SUCK! ( WE play in one of the two Toughest divisions in the League, Other being NFC east)
Mahomes has become the new Brady that everyone HATES with the same additude if not worse than Brady.

We lost to a game winning return and got screwed on at least 2 should have been flags on Ravens during that play but Mcvay and Donald didnt go trash media/refs for it.

Reid should had a less fine than Mahomes. Mahomes should have had a huge fine especially the outburst on nation TV and to Allen and suspension at least a game or two Min.

And, NFC East was terrible for up until about the last 2 years.

Nope. Mahomeboy isn't Tommy. Not even close.

I enjoy watching him because i enjoy watching the elite go to work. One moment isn't and shouldn't tarnish his career.

They both needed to be fined on their complaining.

That was a completely legitimate call.

I blame the WR for being stupid.

What? Wtf happened?

Yeah. Mahomes earns $35 million a year, so $50k is basically a morning’s work.
Perspective:
For the guy making $100K/year, that is a $142 fine.....

I bit more than an oil change....
