Or maybe they're badmouthing Long because, maybe - just maybe - he failed to live up to their standards? The tight end position was wide open. Gesecki had been benched, and Schultz's grasp on the starting tight end job wasn't that tight. Long could've easily broken out that year as a receiving tight end to complement the guys living on the deep routes or short routes to get YAC.

Long proved that he wasn't ready, that he may never be ready. It doesn't matter if the coaches supposedly didn't like him or not; they're still coaches in the NFL, and their job is to find the best players to help win a championship. Long obviously didn't work his ass off to prove himself; one catch in two seasons says it all.

1 catch in The NFL this in 2 seasons for a 3rd draft STINKS!! The Rams saw something they liked in him.
Nick Caley is the new TE’s coach & was in the AFC East & has coached FB’s as well.I don’t know what Long will do as a Ram,but seeing his skill set at BC shows a nice skill set.If he can do those type of things in The NFL would be nice.

She's reported before - and did so again today - that Over The Cap is not accurate and these (Stafford, Donald and Kupp) are complex contracts with definite outs that we are not aware of. Perhaps it's great reporting? ;)

Why not listen to the podcast and then decide?
Because math is math. There is no conceivable way he can be moved/cut without a monstrous dead cap hit

Here is a report he wanted more money. He talked about that as well on that show.

Show me a quote from Ramsey saying what you said he said, not some post trade nonsense

Rams traded him to where he wanted to go which is good in the long run. Maybe they could have gotten more for him, but that's what the Phins were offering .

I haven’t seen anything posted about Jalen’s new contract, but it’s on spotrac.com. He got his next 2 years guaranteed for a nice $35,500,000, if that’s accurate.

UGH. I thought this was a very weak 11 Personnel podcast. I've heard some good ones but not this one.
Yes, they used more words than typical fans would, but I thought this episode was one of the better ones.

I was especially riveted (literally didn't get out of my car until it ended) by the behind the scenes details of when she pulled McVay aside after the KC game to discuss why he gave up calling plays that game. And she noticed it while the PR team denied it, and only confirmed it when an OC from another NFL team messaged her as he noticed it on the same broadcast. And then didn't report it and decided to pull him aside and not bring it up in front of her colleagues?

This is fascinating stuff as she juggles "scooping" that comes with her job, along with being a good human. These decisions and her approach is what makes her reporting special. Take the insight into McVay's thinking/processing of grandpa McVay's death and the impact it had on him and his locker room?

Ain't gonna get that sort of detail from reading/listening to anyone else but the lurker Jourdan.

We are talking about different episodes of the 11 Personnel podcast.

McVay giving-up play calling was never discussed in the episode I am referring to which was taped on Monday morning and released later in the day. The episode I am talking about was solely on the Ramsey trade and what the Rams are (or may be) doing.

As I wrote, I have heard some good one. May be the one you are referring to was a good one.

However, the one I am talking about was fucking awful.

No state tax in Fla. doesn't hurt either.

I keep seeing, (1 catch in two seasons). Isn't the more important stat how many targets and catches in two seasons?

I'm not claiming Long is gonna be a stud, but I understand that in my 51 years I have seen A LOT of players do better on a different team without much of a reason why they suddenly switched it on. He may suck, but I'll wait and see.......with the way things go for the Rams, we will see them double their wins this coming season.

We got a 3rd and a bag of chips for a 28yr old still playing at a high level Ramsey and the colts got a 5th for a WASHED Gilmore.

IIRC the Rams were interested in Gilmore and likely to sign him but the Colts owner sent a plane to scoop him and rolled out the red carpet. Thanks Irsay. Imbecile.

I do remember that!

Ahhh. Didn't realized they dropped another one. My bad.

It's not a new contract, its the same contract he signed with the Rams. Only difference is that the next 2 years werent previously guaranteed, and now are

Right. I just realized that although he reduced his 2023 salary, most of it is signing bonus. All of that is up front, and in Florida. The reduced per game salary lowers the other state taxes for road games. Sheesh, I guess I’ll go get ready for work now.

I liked it because they say things Rams fans aren't happy to hear. There's a lot of brutal honesty and tough love in there that a lot of people won't ever accept.
