I liked the pick but I thought we would see more instant production. RB is not a difficult position to transition to the NFL. Good backs can shine in their first season.

What if a total stud with lots of speed falls to us somewhere, and we already have Corum?

I wouldn't even think about giving him money until after training camp.

Make him hold out if he wants to be a princess, but he doesn't get a dime until just before the regular season.

I feel that for McVay, pass protection is as important as running the ball for a RB. Getting up to speed on pass protection is much more difficult than running the ball, so it's tough to see the field unless pass pro is mastered. I don't think that this is as important on other teams. So very very hard for a rookie RB to see a lot of playing time on the Rams.

Lots of rookies start in their first year. If they are good enough McVay won’t hold them back.

Kyren didn't shine in his first year, just saying. It is too early to really get a read on Corum.

I keep checking into this thread hoping the extension talks have dissolved. There is no reason to extend a RB before their rookie contract is even up. What is Kyren tears his achillies? His already unimpressive speed will be even less impressive. I still maintain, Corum is just as talented.

I agree. Corum is as / or more talented as a runner.

It depends on the back. If they took one with their first round pick I think it’s likely that he’s special enough to start

I think the thinking is exactly the thinking behind the Eagles signing Saquan to that monster deal this week. Get ahead of the market, especially if you feel like you have a top guy.

Now Rams fans can quibble about Kyren being a top guy without the home run speed and fumbling. I'm not gonna argue that. But everything else is elite.

I think the Rams want to get ahead of the market and it'll start turning upwards on runningbacks - maybe as soon as this year - and no longer be depressed.

But I'm sure they have a number in mind and if Kyren doesn't like it, they may look elsewhere... perhaps as early as this draft.

The Rams will look at the 2025 draft for a RB no matter what.It’s a DEEP Class,ask Oldschool.

As far as Kyren goes,it’s a question mark.Usually The Rams like to let the dust settle in the Summer time to deal done like that.The example of EJ53 last season. The Rams had questions,and he must have showed attitude or played games.
Look at Cam Akers & Van Jefferson?

It’s yet to be seen,but DieterRam might tell you Kyren Williams & The Rams don’t want to get a deal done ??? He isn’t a restricted FA,but the thought of security from a player for multiple seasons & playing for a team you like both parties come together.

Then again what would have Alaric Jackson made on the Open Market?? To think Blake Corum is better or a good as KW23 ? I would question that,but very easily could be proven otherwise.

Not really true.
Can Akers started as a rookie, so McVay will play rookies. And as for Kyren, he didn’t play much as a rookie because he missed most of training camp and pre season because of an injury and then sprained his ankle in the 1st game of the year and spent most of it on IR
