I was hanging out with a buddy the other day and he proclaimed:

"Rams have a 2 year window" (raider fan)

I'm just curious if any of you agree with that sentiment.

I fully believe we have a much larger window of winning opened. 2 years seems to me like a supreme underestimate.

I think they have a long window, much longer than two years. It's because of the Rams core players:

Goff
Gurley
Donald
Cooks

Window always fully open with those guys on the field.

I guess it depends on the window. In terms of being how dominate this team can (will?) be this year I’d say 2 years is right since those cheap rookie deals will be expiring. But in terms of playoffs and legit SB contenders I’d say the window is much much longer than 2 years

I guess if you exclude Les Snead from getting draft picks right for a few years, maybe.....But Les is one fire the last couple of years with rookies and FA's. Almost everyone is replaceable, althouth replace some would kill me. This isn't your 2011 Rams...

Yeah, color me verrrrry optimistic about the length of our window.

Snead and McVay both young and hitting on all cylinders.

Core of young elite players like these:

Goff
Gurley
Cooks
Woods
Kupp
AD
Brockers
Peters
NRC
JJ
Joyner (maybe)
Hekker
Zuerlein

I mean, DAMN!

I think Woods is missing.
Ha! I actually typed in both Woods and Kupp. Then I deleted them off the list. I know they're really good, but not sure if they are superstars. Maybe they should be considered the core...?

Woods, Kupp, Gurley, Cooks are all locked in for the next few years.

Goff gets to learn to be an NFL QB with elite talent around him.

I'm not too optistic about our window because we can't keep everyone.

I'm less optimistic if we manage to sign Gurley, Goff, Cooks, and Donald.

2 down. 2 to go. We will see. I don't think we can survive with 4 elite contracts. that will be almost 50% of our cap.

I'm gonna just try to enjoy this year.

As of this point our window is at about 4 years. If we extend that out it’ll depend what we do in the next two. LETS GO!!

Proper response to said Raiders' fan: "Well I used to think the Raiders had a window..."

You never know. In the last six seasons all four teams have won the NFC West. Just shows how the balance of power is like a pendulum, from one team to another.

Let's get Donald locked up. That will help extend our window.

I think the opposite with Donald’s contract.

Woods signed for 5 years ?
Copper Kupp 3 more ?
Cooks 5 years
Cooks 5 years
Reynolds 3 more
Plus The Rams want to keep building the foundation.
Goff is key Gurley is signed.

The defense though is key on how The Rams build it . Is Aaron Donald that good, & how The Rams build around this ?

How good is Suh ? Same with M. Peters & Talib

The window will be 15 plus years.
As long as Goff and McVay are both around and that they continue to pay players (avoiding a cap mess) the Rams will be in playoff picture every year.
Future looks bright and lengthy.

As others have said, we have such a young core at key positions... it feels like we’ve entered an extended stretch of what should be many competitive seasons.

Having said that, the ball feels set on the tee right now. Obviously, we need a little luck and good health to be with us, but it does feel like we have a particularly strong team the next 2 years.
