Rams Waive QB Brandon Allen, Cut Two from Practice Squad

Myles Simmons
RAMS INSIDER

The Rams have waived QB Brandon Allen, opening a space on their 53-man roster.

Los Angeles was awarded Allen off waivers at the beginning of the regular season last year, having claimed him when he was cut from Jacksonville. Allen was inactive for the first 14 games of the 2017 season before being placed on injured reserve with a back injury.

Allen played in all four preseason games for L.A. in 2018, completing 33-of-51 passes for 261 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Originally a sixth-round pick out of Arkansas in 2016, Allen is now in his third professional season.

Los Angeles’ roster currently stands at 52 players. Offensive lineman Jamon Brown’s suspension has ended, and he currently has a roster exemption. He will have to be moved to the active roster in order to play in Sunday’s game against the Chargers.

The Rams made two practice squad transactions, cutting tight end Temarrick Hemingway and quarterback Luis Perez. Los Angeles' practice squad currently stands at eight players. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that Allen is a candidate to return to Los Angeles' practice squad should he clear waivers.

Additionally, the Rams hosted three tryout players:

Silberman, Ian (G - Boston College)

They did have 3 OL try out.

Silberman, Ian (G - Boston College)

Steinmetz, David (T - Purdue)

Williams, Darrell (T - Western Kentucky)- Not the former Ram

Winning feels good and has been hiding my concern with how the roster is balanced.

I’d feel a lot better with another body on the oline and wide receiver. A lot better.

Panthers have an OT named Daryl Williams. That's close right?

Yes it is and I included him, so that three players with the name of Darrell or Daryl Williams that play Offensive Tackle, just uncanny, however, some would debate the Williams from Southern Florida really didn't play Offensive Tackle.

Well after Mannion all but handed Allen the job all he had to do was not eff it up in the last game. But he did. No reason to keep two backups of their quality, so I doubt anyone here felt that was anything but a good move.

Hemingway to the PS was kind of a joke. Dude has been around long enough, if he was going to ever show something it would have been under this staff. See ya and make room for a kid who might be able to take advantage.

Hope they can add Demby to the PS so @den-the-coach can simmer down lol. :D

But we like to rile up @den-the-coach. It's quite enjoyable.
