I wasn't going to be as direct as that but I didn't love his film. I thought he needed to get quite a bit more physical (nasty) to play at the NFL level. He has the tools and the size now he needs the attitude. JMO
Then again there’s the possibility it’s just that Anchrum’s killin it out there.

Do we know for sure that Bruss is 100% healthy? If he is I agree that its disconcerting that he can’t even break into the 2nd string OL.?

Rams need to be nailing these top picks.
Bruss was a late 3rd round pick who showed he had work to do in camp and preseason last year then got injured and lost a whole year of development. The chances of him competing for even a starting spot this year were never high (Call it 2 in 10)... But yeah, I would expect him to be at least 2nd string. Still, I think he probably needs another year before we can expect to know what will get from him.

Nice to hear Xavier Smith is among those taking punt returns. IMO it's his best shot to make the roster as the #6WR as well. He's short but has excellent speed and is a decent WR as well. The only thing lacking in Powell was his average acceleration. If Atwell who I hear is also taking returns doesn't win the job then Smith could be a good option. Not risking a regular depth player doing the job. When I first saw his name among the UDFA I knew he might make a good return specialist while he develops as a receiver.

#4 is Fuller and among all the safeties I think he could be the man out. Taylor brings more to the table, especially speed. That was the problem with both Rapp and Fuller was their marginal speed. With Lake, Yeast and Taylor they would be 3 deep at safety and all three bring better speed to the position.
I stated already that I could see Fuller traded for a future 6th or 7th.. or maybe just cut since he hasn't shown much in recent yrs.

Disapppointing for sure. We need good depth on the OL, and if he is not cutting it, to be blunt we need to look elsewhere. Hopefully he comes along a bit.

Nope people just assuming the worst that he's not out there because he's bad. We're used to it by now :)

Very true...maybe based on what did his rookie yr? A team desperate at S and a coach familiar with him. SD, Minn?
So why not just keep him on a VERY cheap contract and see if he regains that form (I'm not sure he totally lost it, he's been injured) since he's also the only safety we have with significant playing experience.

Certainly it is worthy of discussion that he's only been out there at RT in a depth role as per the camp reports so far. Which insinuates he's ready to play but not a top name in consideration for RG right now.

And there is nothing wrong with conceding it's a bad sign for the player. As things stand right now in the early camp returns guys like Bruss and Brown sound like they're behind the curve.

The whole problem is you're arguing your point from a complete and total lack of information on the player. You do not know if he's healthy or not. You do not know if he is healthy what has been going on in practices and meetings. You do not know what McVay is doing with the player.

The only certain thing is the assumptions going around the assumption that he's been beat out early and is bad. That's the only fact in the Bruss discussion, aside from one quote that he wasn't one of the top 2 guards. You're speculating because the discussion that lacks any factual information.

Let's hope so, my concern is Bruss seems to be on the 4th combo of OL'ers which leads one to think maybe it is more than TA that is ahead of him.

@Mojo Ram It certainly is possible he is still getting up to speed, although irrespective of the group you are in for drills the chance of injury/reinjury remains similar. This is why it is something to watch, especially with the Ram's track record of holding players out rather than exposing them to further setbacks.

Speculation is what we do. As fans. We never have all the information.

Well not all of us. Some of us enjoy riding around on our high horse looking down our nose at the peasants.
