I'm a bit surprised by the amount of this contract.

Either way, it's still a savings off his 5'th year option status for 2017. Our already good overall CAP next year just got a little better, and we won't have to worry about Tavon as a free agent in 2018. jmo.

They learned from letting Jenkins and Rodney go Im glad they are finally getting the message. They have to resign Tru now or our secondary is really going to be young.

You gotta tie up your good players before they hit FA. Tavon has shown the playmaking ability to justify the numbers.

This is just rolling the dice a little and trying to keep your core group especially while you try to build a real offense.

The Rams don’t have many offensive weapons. One of the few they have will be sticking around for a while.

PFT has confirmed that receiver Tavon Austin, the eighth overall pick in the 2013 draft, has agreed to terms on a four-year extension.

It’s a four-year extension, worth $42 million. Per a league source with knowledge of the situation, Austin’s true guarantee if he’s on the roster next March will be $25 million.

He was due to make $2.14 million this year and $12.2 million next year, under the fifth-year first-round option. In all, it’s a six-year deal worth more than $56 million.

The deal also includes an incentive package that will pay Austin significantly more, if/when he generates the kind of numbers over the course of a full season that he has generated in flashes through his first three seasons.

Can he generate big numbers over the course of a full season? If running back Todd Gurley continues to improve and quarterback Jared Goff is the real deal, it will be easier for the Rams to get more out of Austin. At times last year, the offense consisted primarily of pushing the ball forward with Gurley and finding ways to get the ball in Austin’s hands in space with a collection of average-at-best quarterbacks.

They need to wait before getting Tru done. See how he does vs the top draw every week first.

Florio's numbers are much easier to swallow and make alot more sense

56 over 6 with 25 mill guaranteed. Puts him at about 9.333 a year (elite WR2 money), but the guarantees still seem a bit high. Probably still need more info because the rams are really good at the pay as you go contracts

So happy for TA, a very nice young man. Those "cousins" will be coming out of the wood works now. LOL I look for him to have his best season yet, this year. And next year he, Gurley and Goff should be a well-oiled machine.

Snead and Demoff have their finger prints all over this. I know Fisher loves his little play-maker so surely he gave his blessing in the initial discussion.

The Rams cap in 2017 is going to have some firepower to make at least one big name splash for not having that 1st round lost for Goff.

I'm very happy by this news and as long as Tavon scores double digit TD's like last season, he's well worth the price of admission.

Outstanding job by the Front Office

Two things you can't coach Gentlemen....Height & Speed!

I hope Tavon does better in a stadium that was built without a roof, because he's been pretty non-existent under the sun so far:

15 games
41 receptions
253 yards
1 TD
