IMO - Ben SKO STINKS & will get cut!! Special teams is his saving grace & with all the Young DB’s his number becomes less impactful.

Ben Sko has proven he can’t catch a football very well & does not get open in space.

I liked him his rookie year because he would flow into the slot easily on short screens, but that is all play calling.
Ben Sko, or Austin Trammell, Trammall last on WRer position. We shall know soon though.

Could be true, but if he shows out in camp, he will definitely bump somebody off the squad which can be very likely to happen.
Fine...he bumps an UDFA off the roster and maybe onto the PS. That's improving the depth of your active roster. And as I said, it might indicate that they think they will be competitive.

So adding a solid vet gives you insurance for an injury and just more experience and also big game experience at the WR position, a very young group on this team.

We all saw how Skowronek came up small in big spots as a rookie. So why not add a vet instead of putting everything on Puka in the instance that they have injuries? Plus, Puka isn't the most durable as well.

Honestly I'm ok if he does. He's a vet and we can always use more of those with so many young players on the team. Good point on Puka plus he's still a rookie.

.

I'd rather have this guy out there as a wr than skow. At least we know he can play the position competently.

Wanna know why I think Tutu is quietly doing just fine?
Because - McVay hasn't been shy about how important a deep threat with real speed is to his offense. Be it Sammy Watkins, Brandon Cooks or DeSean Jackson - McVay values this as much as anything. The "proof is in the pudding", so to speak.
Nobody else who is new to the WR room fits that bill since real speed - the kind thats scary for DBs and makes DCs account for it - is expensive - be it in Free Agency or the draft.

Beyond that - how was Atwell supposed to show his best traits with Wolford or Perkins?? Neither could hit a barn if it was going deep... the first offseason Tutu could get reps from Stafford and develop that chemistry between the two - we get a little video of a Stafford bomb to Atwell.
Maybe its just a coincidence- but I doubt it. I think it's a sign of things to come.
Also: No, I dont believe for one second that Atwell has to be a starter or the #3 WR in order to have an effective role on offense. That's just silly. If he was actually expected to do what McVays WRs do - lol! He never would've been drafted! No way. DeSean Jackson wouldn't have ever been added either. DJax didn't like being a rotational back up - but Atwell won't mind coming in fresh and torching the other team occasionally.

I think both Tyler Johnson and Demarcus Robinson could make the roster if they have standout TCs. Both are tall with decent speed and this could put Skowronek and Tutu both on notice. If Xavier Smith has a good TC and shows he can be the return specialist I can see him bumping Atwell off the roster with his similar size and speed. It will depend upon how many WRs they carry but I'd rather have Johnson than Skowronek. If they carry 6 WRs then Robinson could make the cut taking McCutcheon's roster spot.

Just don't see any scenario right now where Atwell is not on the team. Really think Coach Mac has lots of plans, plays and formations for a guy with his skill set. Many on here are focusing on what he can't do more than what he brings to the team. No, he'll never be a WR like Bobby Trees or Cooper Kupp but McVay knew that when he drafted him.
All he needs is a chance and I think Rams fans everywhere are going to be happy with the results....

Don’t see how you can think The Rams won’t be competitive?
With or without this wr?
—Good point about Puka & the signings. The Rams have always wanted to have a solid WR group. Last year was tough, but having Matthew Stafford healthy throughout OTA’s has to tell Rams Fans something about The Rams leadership.

Rams need to move Skow to the TE room and beef him up a little. He’s a smart player and willing blocker. His speed is less a negative at that position as well.

And this may sound silly, but when he runs his routes he EVEN LOOKS LIKE A TE. To me, anyway.

Still... Even at WR, I am a Skow fan.

One of the Rams stated values is "anti-fragile". That value and the need for a vet who is a full-go seem to explain this signing.

Assuming Van is a #2 and Tutu is a situational starter, it makes sense to have a proven commodity as a #3.

I love Sko, but you can't build an offense around him playing a Hybrid FB role.
