Crosby (Mason, not Bing) was 24-of-25 from inside the 50-yard-line last year. I will take that.

Problem is that in 2021, he was just 22-of-30 from inside the fifty; and only 13-of-21 between the 30 and 49.
Was 2021 necessary? Looks like he was trending the direction to me

Watching Havrisik, it looks like it is simply a mechanical issue. He pushes everything to the right.
I thought so too until he hooked the 28-yarder to the left vs the Browns. It was good but barely made it inside the left post. So he's been hookin' and slicin'....

That long consecutive streak came after like 8 or 8 straight misses too.
I have seen him with some serious slumps before where he misses multiple kicks in a game. He can get hot and make them or get cold as the frozen tundra and can't hit his ass with two hands.

If they truly want someone to kick a long FG like 60 years, Ethan Evans can kick those if needed.

Sean: " We need a new kicker., someone clutch in big moments and almost automatic from 50 and under."

Les:
" best I could get ya is a Punter who can come in and kick a 65 FG or squat a Geo Metro in a pinch..."

He's an CU Grad. I'm sure coach Prime will take credit for this signing...lol
Kinda Funny Lol GIF by Gerbert!

He has had a couple of years that have been under his 86.2% against the Lions in 2018 he missed 4 FG's in one game and finished the season 30-37. He rebound in 2019 22-24 & was 16-16 in 2020. Dipped in 2021 being 25-34 and last year was 25-29.

I like how the Rams signed Mason to help mentor Havrisik. IMO that is all Havrisik needs because he has the raw talent. Most guys like him don't improve until they seek professional help in the off season, Younghoe Koo is a perfect example.

Good, bad, good, bad, good. That trend indicates a bad year this year.

That's the whole point and why the 2nd guessing is silly. It wasn't so black and white that they could have just signed him
We're just not on the same page here DB.

Second Guessing is defined as:
to criticize or question actions or decisions often after the results of those actions or decisions are known

I was posting back in March my hope and strong opinion that Gay would and should be re-signed.
My recent posts are simply an expression of my frustration given the Rams' 2023 turnover at place-kicker.

As to your 2nd point that it 'wasn't so black and white that they could have re-signed Gay', I agree; and
we are both guilty of suggesting it was black and white.
Yesterday, I posted "the Rams could have made it work"
and you posted 'the Rams didn't have the cap space at the time'

I can't be responsible for what I think, write or say. I'm an idiot. But you? Well, you should know better.

Correct
Which is what is/was being done AFTER Gay was signed by the Colts.
Every action has a reaction, so any assumption that the Rams could have signed him without impacting the current roster construction is just a false narrative.

BEFORE
Expressing a Hope that the Rams Would re-sign Gay; and the Opinion that they Should re-sign Gay BEFORE
the start of Free Agency is NOT Second Guessing.

Lamenting after the fact is ... well ... lamenting ... an under-used term

My first response to you yesterday at Noon was to your post that started with the following comment:
"This is the problem with the second guessing"
I did not believe that is what I was doing, and I still don't.

Completely Agree but I never said or implied that re-signing Gay would Not have impacted the current roster.

McVay said "there's a possibility" that Mason is promoted to the roster for the game. So I presume they told Havrisik he has to have a strong week in practice and give the coaches some confidence that he can bounce back, or he's going to take a back seat to the vet in Baltimore.

I do agree with the sentiment that Mason will be promoted to the roster. But it would be nice if Havrisik impresses leading up to the game and gets another chance. Outdoor stadium with weather leg strength matters a bit more, so hopefully he can get his head on straight.
