Finding a big DE/OLB type is PERFECT. A real nice fit coming from the RDE spot.
I see Hoect moving more to LDE spot where Floyd usually lined up. His size helps run support.

He is an excellent choice. Is there a position The Rams have needed more the last few years ?
T. Lewis was a bust. Hollins was a CUT-PICK UP. Von Miller did show what having a solid Edge Rusher can do.
Donte Fowler with upside is a comparison.

Lewis never had the explosiveness. He was never a real Edge Rusher. Couldn’t get off the ball.

Nah. He's not explosive. In addition to that unimpressive 4.43 40, he only jumped 38 inches in the vert and 11 feet in the broad. Terrible athlete.

Football is played in pads though. Let's see what he can do. Plenty of players blossom into good NFL players that vastly out-perform what one would expect based on their measurables alone.
Apparently, the Rams have their own advanced analytics on players to try and project NFL success. Perhaps Young scored well on those.
I did not watch him play in college but on his YouTube clips he looks athletic enough to me for his draft position.

Quoting this from the draft thread for more relevance here.... the first 3.5 minutes of that video was not great and you can see why he is definitely not an every down player yet but the last half of the video he really turns it on. If his secondary wouldn't have given a bunch of deep shit so quickly he would have easily had a few sacks. Definitely a bit raw and only a pass rusher at the moment but that's what gets paid the big bucks.
