Not a chance. Demarcus is signed for 1 year, the rook would have 4. They drafted Jefferson, when they already had Woods/Reynolds. McVay likes what he likes and I think a player like this would be right up his alley
And if they can fill some holes in FA then it opens up the possibility of a trade up, especially with having 4 top 100 picks and 11 picks overall in what appears yo be s deep draft. So they can give a few picks up if needed.

It's so freaking early but here's a top-20:

QBs ... Williams, Daniels, Maye and McCarthy
WRs ... Harrison, Nabers, Odunze and Thomas
TE ... Bowers
OL ... Alt, Fuaga, Fashanu and Powers-Johnson
DL ... Murphy
Edge ... Turner, Latu and Verse
CB ... Mitchell, Arnold and Wiggins
I'm not sold on JPJ being on this list. Latham is now pretty commonly in the top 20 and I think he goes above JPJ myself. Would also not be surprised if Fautanu and Mims are higher regarded then JPJ. Wondering if Arnolds poor showing at the Combine might effect his top 20 status? Personally, I would still be happy with him, but, IMO Mitchell clearly cemented his CB1 status. He's excelled at all he's asked to do.

It's sure starting to look like FA WR options this year are gonna be a bust with all these guys getting signed, franchised and expected extensions. Even better that the Rams got Robinson signed. WRs gonna go fast and often in this draft with the talent there.

Maybe Rams trade for a generational talent in Odunze or use all that maneuvering from other teams to have a stud corner or LT fall into our lap.

I can only sanction this if Fash agrees to shout Awooga into the mic once picked.

Honestly? I like Fashanu more than Alt as a left tackle, and I really like Alt.

Arnold's poor showing at the combine? I thought he looked great.

JPJ vs. Latham is going to up to team needs on who goes first, IMO.

Trading up for a WR in one of the deepest WRs classes in years and just a year after getting Puka in the 5th round is highly unlikely.

At the same time there's talk that the top WRs might not go as high as most suggest because of the depth of the draft class and it kinda makes sense.

Look for the CB, LT, or pass rusher.

Let's hope Rams get a starter at edge in FA. These pass rusher are meh and if, as expected, Turner and Verse are off the board, I don't like anyone close to 19 before or after. Laitu I guess, but not sure about medical.

Whomever that might be, I hope it's a true difference maker and not just a body with a huge contract just filling a position.

Welllllllll... I don't think it's going to be a true difference maker nor do I think it's going to be a huge contract. But it will be better than Hoecht. FWIW. I think the rams will need to hunt for a 3rd down specialist in the draft.

Better than Hoecht is nice. But with the Stafford, Donald, Kupp window possibly closing soon, I hope they swing for the fences.

hahaha ok now it makes sense :)
After all of that I just heard Mel Kiper state that Olumuyiwa Fashanu could potentially drop into the #20 range.

8 1/2" hands? That seems pretty small for an OLineman. Maybe that's why he isn't as good of a run blocker?? I don't know.

You know what? If he's still available after a trade down? Hell yeah. No offense to A-Jax, but there's no reason Fashanu should fall past the teens.

I also like the Incentives component.

According to Spotrac, Robinson gets $500,000 if he plays 50% of the snaps. That's great for the Rams. Should Robinson continue to be the #3 WR, he should get half the snaps because McVay plays so much 11 Personnel. Should Kupp or Nacua go down, and Robinson is the guy to step-in, he would also easily get half the snaps.

The other $500,000 in incentives is Team-based. He gets that $ if the Total Offense Rating improves, or if the Rams make the playoffs. Offense success / Team success ... more money.

Even the low-guaranteed-$ ($1.5M Bonus) is a plus. Assume a worst case scenario, and Robinson falls-in with a Bad Crowd (like @Loyal and his band of miscreants), the Rams could let him go with a minimal $1.5M cap-hit.
Hey I'm still waiting for my $1.5 million fan appreciation incentives to drop in my account! C'mon Stan, pony up the dough!

So the bet is, if neither Odunze or Nabers makes it to pick #20, I win?

Sounds good to me.

I don’t want ROD cash, though… if I win, you’re not allowed to post multiple posts in succession for one year.

I'd worry about it if he was catching or throwing the football.

If they don't re sign Dotson, I'd like a stud LT. There's no reason Alaric can't be as good at G as Dotson.
The Rams were certainly encouraged by his play there but I could see it being a bit unknown. Think it was only 1-3 games. There's even a scenario where we grab a tackle with flexibility to play RG first and then swing out to tackle in either direction and leave AJ at LT for one more season.

It can be hard for some players to switch sides but not for others. Dotson credits some of his success to moving from LG in Pitt back to RG here. But look at a guy like Boom who actually played well (not as good at Dotson but quite well) at RG before the injury. Or even AJ who played well at RG and now at LT.

7th slowest 40 of all the CB's and 26th ranked (think there was 29 total) athleticism score suggests he didn't do great. Again, he did enough for me to still want him, but I would not say he did great. Mitchell, on the other hand, decidedly performed great.

I like this option better myself. I'd rather get a guy with flexibility to swing from OT to OG, saves a roster spot and cap.
