Ryan Williams was great for a freshman, but he dropped quite a few passes, too.

This. He'd technically be the no.3 QB, but create some red zone/RPO packages for him to get him up to speed. Iirc that's how Lamar was used his rookie year before Flacco went down. The blueprint is already there thanks to the Ravens.

As a sidenote McVay remembers anytime he gets absolutely decimated like he was by the Ravens offense in 2019. After Vic Fangio and the Bears destroyed the version of his offense that was unstoppable to that point in 2018 he went on to emulate that defense with Brandon Staley, a Fangio disciple.

Obviously he hasn't had the personnel to copy the Ravens to this point but you could see the fascination with mobile QBs in the years afterwards when he insisted on trying to develop Bryce Perkins and John Wolford despite both of them having extremely limited arm talent. Milroe could be the guy he's been looking for...

McVay kept him around, but Perkins was an O'Connell find from what I remember reading. Not sure he would have been on the team without him.

Yes and no. For the Rams to have a package for Milroe, it would mean 3 QB would have to be active on gameday. Lamar was the backup QB & Baltimore had the luxury of RGIII being on a league minimum deal thus leaving him inactive was no big deal.
So if the Rams were to have all 3 QB active, they would surely have plays for Milroe to justify that spot. The beauty of it would be that if Milroe got banged around a bit, it wouldnt jeopardize the backup QB spot
So yeah the blueprint for using the QB is there, but its a bit more complicated with the 3rd qb

With the exception of Pittsburgh at #21, picks 19-24 look prime for trading back
Furthermore, (excluding Pittsburgh again) all the teams from 19-32 are set at QB

I think he singled out the Vikings because they don’t have a second round pick, just like the Rams.

Like when he reported they were trying to trade up for a tackle last year? I think he’s more BS, and less ‘in the know’, just like the rest of them. They take tidbits of info and try to put together the pieces, then pass it off as factual. If I was an NFL GM I’d feed these guys nothing but straight BS about my team and every other team.

I just don't see Milroe as a fit for Pittsburgh, and I'd include Dart in that as well. They need someone to strap it up and play day one. Inserting Milroe in that division as a rook won't go well, those defenses will eat his ass.

Only way either fits what they need is if they decide to nuke their offense with simplified reads and rely very heavily on him running the ball. But that has its own drawbacks like injury or the player not learning what is required at this level to be able to sustain wins as the QB and face of the franchise.

The guy they should be targeting is Shough. He's not the QB who wows with highlight runs, but he's big, can make the throws, and seems most ready to step in and distribute it for them. Or drop down and target McCord. Any team who needs a QB is going to need to overdraft him this year, it is what it is. But that doesn't mean they can't hit on the selection and fix their issue. Go get the guy who fits what you want to do, what you need, and that increases your odds I'd say.

As I recall Schrager said that the Rams would draft an offensive player if they didn't trade down and some assumed it would be a tackle.

He got it wrong, but they did make a run after Brock Bowers.

I like Shough but I'm not sure he's any more ready than other QB's. Howard, McCord, Rourke and Gabriel have all adapted to new teams without a hitch just the same

Shrager likes to make people think he’s good friends with McVay. He uses that to sell his Rams takes. He also claimed earlier that April that the Rams were taking an offensive player and if they didn’t stand pat it would be Tyler Guyton.

I don’t like Shrager. It’s BS to try to sell some acquaintance with a coach as a close friendship. I said it last year and stand by it. McVay, Snead or anyone else involved in the Rams scouting and draft process aren’t telling this guy or any other reporter Jack shit until after the draft.

Shough has some anticipation throws, he's shown an ability to get through reads and distibute the ball consistently. I don't think he's some amazing prospect or anything, far from it, but he's solid in terms of "can we install him year one and go with him."

Milroe just feels like he's going to need time in this league, because if you're not to a certain point of development as a passer the defenses at this level will punish you. Dart is the same due to the system he played in, just too many unknowns to presume he is ready.

Of course this is guesswork as if one of these guys is smart enough and works hard enough maybe he's ready quicker than expected. Or the opposite, which seems to be true more often. I expected Levis to translate quicker because he ran a lot of the Rams offense at Kentucky but mentally he was not ready. But most of these guys are going to need time, just some more than others.

McCord is the other guy who looks to me like he might step right in and be able to learn the NFL as a starter. Obviously Cam will go in the top group and play right away, but as we get to these other guys, all of whom are projects to some extent, I think there's a couple who when I watch their games look like they may have the grasp of shit they're gonna need.
