Stafford is year to year and there is no guarantee next year draft will be any “better” than this draft.
I also am in belief that a year on the bench with Stafford/Mcvay makes him immeasurably better as a prospect and that’s what I compare to 2026 draft

Milroe is not nearly a good enough passer to thrive in McVay’s offense. He has to develop as a passer, and I don’t know how he does that sitting on the bench for a year.

Thats exactly how and where he develops as a passer. Reps in practice, working with QB coaches on mechanics etc.
And as others have said, they could even have a small package of plays for him to get in some games.
We all agree he isnt pro ready, most arent. If his talent was more refined there wouldnt be a chance the Rams could draft him

His biggest value year one and probably year two would be pretending to be mobile QBs for our scout team. From there we cross our fingers and hope his pass game development hits.

I would take him over Sanders, who to me has quite a low ceiling in McVay's offense, he's more a Shanny underneath type. But I see a lot more value per draft position in taking McCord or maybe Shough if he doesn't get taken too high.

Seems to me that Shough would go before Milroe due to passing game acumen for quickly starting if necessary. If you want a QB who has a chance to play now it's not Milroe or Dart you're after. Rather Shough and McCord. But sadly Dart's performance under pressure is going to get him off that board before he gets to us.

Complication in all this is what if the Rams want a QB who has a chance to be ready in 2026 camp to run the offense. Not sure that's gonna be Milroe. And if it is McVay is probably going to be tailoring shit to him which we know he doesn't like to do. So at this point my guess is it's more likely the Rams are secretly high on McCord, who has a reasonable shot to be ready to step into that job in 2026, than to go with a long term project like Milroe.

But again if McVay takes Milroe that means he was impressed by his grasp of offensive concepts, which means he won't be a long term dev project. A full year in a scheme should be enough at that point I would hope.

He needs a lot of work. Again, I would not want him before the 5th round (if the Rams trade up or trade back) but he will definitely not last that long.

That is a valid point, however, I thought the move from Nick Saban to the offensive minded HC in Kalen DeBoer would have aided Milroe, but getting used to a new HC & OC and a different offense could have been a factor.

DeBoer puts more on the QB than Saban, who always prioritizes a supporting run game and call balance. So yes maybe he didn't jive with DeBoer. But I view it as a negative that he struggled with that unit around him, in projecting him to the NFL.

Seems that way from the outside I agree. Which is why I suspect Milroe interest is smoke. But it is possible McVay vibed with the kid and wants to work with him. And he has an ability to stretch the field deep which does fit Coach's philosophy.

To be fair, Milroe didnt have "the usual" supporting cast of NFL ready players you are accustomed to for Bama. When was the last time Alabama didnt have an OT, WR or RB projected to get drafted? Outside of Milroe the only offensive player expected to be drafted in first 5 round is OG Booker who is likely a 2nd rounder

We can have an interest and decide that we don't want a guy after further examination or our interest allows us to rate a guy accurately for our team with further examination.

A lot of people seem to be assuming that us meeting with a QB prospect means we like them AND we like them in the 1st. That's a lot of assumptions.

I guess the 29 fumbles were an exaggeration, what wasn't is the fact he took 67 sacks the last 2 years playing behind an Alabama offensive line, which doesn't include the times he bailed and just took off running. He also threw 11 ints on only 319 attempts. With sacks counting as rushing yards in college he only averaged 3.3 and 4.3 yards per rush the last 2 years. He might have speed but he is no Lamar Jackson running the ball. If and when I find more things to criticize him with I will let everyone know. Not a fan of his. While I do agree with this in part, to be fair, Ryan Williams was one of the best freshman WR's in Bama history last season. He's on track to be a top 10 pick when eligible

Ryan Williams (WR), freshman All-American, Kadyn Proctor, (LT,) probably top 5-10 selection next year. It's not that they didn't have special players or 4 and 5 star talent last year, Milroe just doesn't elevate their them.

I watched his games. He's a great runner. He's not Lamar good, but who is? He's a better runner than Hurts. It's the passing that needs work.

Williams is a great talent, but he also played like a true freshman. He dropped a lot of passes.

His hand size? 9 3/8 isnt small, in any event there is no correlation between hand size and fumbles.
And btw, your guy Lanoris Sellers led the NCAA in QB fumbles last year with 11....

If selected it would be utter madness to have him sitting on the bench for the year, IMO.

Giving him a few packages to run throughout the year could do wonders for the offense while also giving opposing defenses something extra for which to prepare.
