The Rams took the field for their first practice of Week 9 on Wednesday and they did so without a couple of starters – including Cooper Kupp. Kupp was held out of practice due to his ankle injury, which Sean McVay called “tissue swelling” earlier this week. McVay already said he expects Kupp to play against the Buccaneers on Sunday.

Brian Allen also has swelling in his knee so the Rams are being cautious, also listing him as a non-participant Wednesday. Van Jefferson, who returned from injury to make his season debut on Sunday, was limited to start the week.

Terrell Lewis also got a rest day, which is normal as the Rams continue to manage his workload.

I’m drawing attention to the recurring knee issues for Allen. I think at this point I hate not picking Humphrey more than not picking Bobby Wagner.

We need a new centre next year. Allen is too unreliable from an availability perspective. And when he does play he is hardly irreplaceable.
IIRC with his contract we can cut him before the 2023 season starts and only have like a $1.5 millionish cap hit saving a couple million. I wouldn't be surprised to see us finally draft a center this off season.

I’ve been a critic of both he and Noteboom since they played in 2019. I never saw anything special in either one, despite McVays praise. I’ve always figured they were the players he had, so doing anything other than trying to pump them up would be counterproductive.

Well. Van played last week and didn’t get so much as a look….

I would. It feels like decades since the Rams had a really good center. They will likely draft more weapons and keep trying to patch the O line together with backup quality players. It’s the same trap that the Seahawks fell into and it helped kill what could have been a longer run.

Andy Reid had one season of bad Oline play and he cut two of his former best and had the line fixed in two seasons. I wish McVay would take note.

Main reason I kept beating the drum about drafting Humphrey. Always thought it was not smart to rely on Allen staying healthy when he clearly has health issues.

But they’re different from elbows, right? I sometimes get those mixed up. :zany1:

This is why we need to draft Ricky Stromberg. That’s my original idea, you know (ducks down before @Riverumbbq throws something at me).

This is just my first post discussing Stromberg. (Dated Oct.13) Yours was when ?

With all the rest days that TL has been getting... I still see... nothing. Had a very sub-par pass rush rating last game.

Looking like he'll be infamously known for that Gronk hit like Ebukan will be known for that game vs Chiefs. But that's all the highlights.

I wish the Rams had kept Ebukam. He got to the QB better than Lewis or Hollins.

With Lewis, it’s another instance of Snead falling in love with testing numbers and athleticism. For a while there he was starting to be more about football players.

Well that wasn’t true starting the season. Just some real bad luck, only in the reason The Rams didn’t draft Humpries imo.Coleman Shelton was supposed to be the swing center.

You could be right, but I’ve always wanted the BIGGER center. That’s why I never liked the Brian Allen draft pick.

So yes , the Tutu Atwell stings because we ALL saw the need for O’Line depth last season.
The fact The Rams could have draft a backup (starting) center or Right Guard ? When Shelton,Allen,Noteboom & Corbett were all Free Agents plus Whitworth was retiring made WAY 2 MUCH SENSE to draft Creed. Especially when he fell to The Rams.

If you ask me, when NFL teams fall apart due to injuries it tells me roster size and cap space must be increased. I don't enjoy watching football where a couple of injuries turns a good team into a dud.
Where the injury report is the biggest and most important part of the sports page. It sucks!

I mean we can talk about center.
Josh Myers was drafted 1 spot ahead of Creed with Green Bay.

I wanted to trade up for Lance Dickerson with Philly.

Kendrick Green went to the Steelers at 87 & is a starter as well.

Lance Brusssss ? Is where ? You can’t miss on players like that & not draft for depth a season before. Who knows what kind of a player he will be in The NFL,but counting on a ROOKIE is not smart.

A’Jackson is holding it down at LT,but he played well at RG. O’Day is doing better than Bobby Evans. So there is that ? I’m not complaining as I am pointing out what most of us knew last season.

Les Snead got lucky OBJ came to The Rams, but Robert Woods & DJ1 were already on The Rams before the 2021 draft.

Brian Allen is only getting a Veterans Day off, plus giving the new backup CENTER reps to get caught up on the O’Line calls. So
Matt Skuro could have a future with The Rams as a backup?
