Mrs. Bruss: Officer, is this a bust? Officer: Yes Mrs. Bruss it is.

Devon Witherspoon likely out too.

The Seattle Seahawks' secondary will be without one, possibly two, key members in the team's Week 1 matchup against the Rams next Sunday.

According to head coach Pete Carroll this Friday, star safety Jamal Adams has been ruled out for Seattle's season-opener. Carroll also mentioned that Seahawks rookie first-round pick Devon Witherspoon is unlikely to play.

Adams, 27, missed the entire 2022 season after suffering a brutal quad injury in Week 1.

Sorry not in my nature to give up or be doom and gloom. Especially about this team when we haven't actually seen the starters play yet.
I know and no sorry needed.

I'm just sayin' it would be great to give up a couple runs early, and then throttle their run game. It would send a great message for the season.

Of course we would then sack and intercept them to death.

Ain't no way I'm giving up either or predicting doom and gloom. You know me better than that.

I'd rather their longest run of the day is 3 yards :)

was gonna add, what a colassal find if A. Jackson is the real deal at Left Tackle, and his playing weight is 330.

That would be amazing. Not only for this year but next year. With Ajax is the real deal the Rams can address a stud defensive player and a new offensive weapon (WR/RB) in the first 2 rounds of the draft. Edge is coming from a trade or FA.

just what I was thinking.

They have as many question marks on defense as the Rams. The advantage is that the Rams have the better offense and far better QB than the Seahawks. Why people keep assuming they will win is a head shaker. Unless the Rams absolutely give the game away by mistakes and turnovers, the Rams are going to win this game. They out match the Hawks with only one exception and that is Metcalf and Lockett. If the Rams come out and one gap the DL and play aggressive in the secondary, they will limit the Seahawks opportunities.

This game is the Rams to lose it, if they don't it's the first of many wins. Maggie is already spending my over winnings. LOL

Don't forget the Rams can start an experienced secondary if they want. That imaginary advantage that other teams had on defense disappeared when the Rams signed Witherspoon and Shelley. Durant, Witherspoon and Shelley along with Fuller and JJ give the rams a completely veteran secondary.

I have noticed that it is not uncommon for the Ram defense to get gouged by a few runs early, only to shut it down by halftime—if not sooner. Teams that can run in the second half tend to win.
I won’t be happy about giving up the run on the first drive or two but as long as it abruptly ends…

I think we have a reasonable chance to win, but too many unknowns and too many rookies in a hostile stadium. I see a sloppy game (penalties, missed assignments). Nevertheless, I expect our offense to produce. Winning the turnover battle would really help.

Excited to finally see the new guys. Fingers crossed for a healthy O-Line and health for that 99mph pitcher lined up behind the center.

The big unknown for me right now is Special Teams and stopping the run.
Yep those areas are probably where the game will be decided. If the Rams are good in both areas they are capable of getting the dub.

My big things are how Morris chooses to deploy his secondary and how the OL performs. Also, with Kupp out I think TEs will be catching more passes.

Hey wasn’t this a Sunday night game and it got flexed out?

Or am I dreaming that up?

Pete Carroll has been very consistent for years.
The Hawks run the ball and play sound D.

I of course hope for the best but I look for Pete to run run run on the Rams' light-in-the-pants D line/ILBs until they load the box and then let the play action game loose on the inexperienced and smallish Rams secondary. Metcalf will be a load if this happens, never mind Lockett.

McVay will try to establish the run on O (Yayyyy!) but will have less success against a stronger Hawk D-Line and Wagner. Without Kupp they will score sometimes but not always, which will not be enough to match the Hawks scoring unless the Rams win the Turnover Battle big time.

Like somebody else says, Puncher's Chance. I do expect them to play with energy and determination. But IMO they are outmatched physically and young on D and Pete will take full advantage of that.

34-24 Hawks. Stafford will do his damndest. Just hope for no critical injuries.

It would be nice if our offense can put a score or two up quickly. I'd hate to have it go the other way and us be down and chasing in that environment. With them pounding the ball on the ground. That's the nightmare scenario so script those plays and hit those bastids early for some points.
