Great game to end the season on. Amazing.
I'm not a huge hockey fan but wife's from the Loo & we lived there a couple years in the 90's, so I guess I'm a bit of a St. Loo homer. Back then I went to my first hockey game at the old Kiel Center, & it was...old...with restricted sight lines caused by columns holding up the roof. But it was packed with the faithful, and I got to see Hull, Shanahan, CuJo in a game. When that fog horn cranked up, I was like, what in the world is that...
Anyway, I'll never forget when the old Kiel center was demolished... I was there & watched as it imploded. And as the dust settled, there was a lone guy in a Blues jersey, standing on top of something, shouting at the top of his lungs, "LET'S GO BLUES! LET'S GO BLUES! ..." and didn't stop for a while. He was very emotional. Many were sad at all the history in that building, only to come down in a brief moment. Many playoff games were played in that old building, only to come to sad endings.
You mean the St. Louis Arena. The building was awesome and the location was perfect.
Same building. St. Louis Arena 1929-1976, 1984-1994, Checkerdome 1977-1983. Developers through Civic Progress Inc. had city government in their back pocket and got the land that they wanted by getting the city to demolish it after assuring it was prevented from competing with the privately owned Kiel Center. It was done against strong public support for keeping the Arena. Same crap that keeps the city the nightmare it has become downtown. The Checkerdome? They played at Kiel after the Checkerdome.
Umm yeah. Got cornfused. Shoulda built the new Kiel / Enterprise there instead. But the Enterprise Center isn't bad, in fact if I woulda known that the parking garage directly connected to it, it woulda saved me a bit of walking time lol.You mean the St. Louis Arena. Which blue team? The teal blue team or the natural blue team? Because I absolutely despise the teal blue team and their fans, and their players, and their coaches, and their front office, and everyone who is associated in any way of that team.
