They could've traded for a very good QB and maybe saved their jobs.
Well they tried and couldn’t get stafford so I don’t see where they “could have”? Surely you don’t suggest they could have traded for Geno?

Well, it does improve the Raiders quarterback room. And Geno's not worse than any QB available. Probably even a little better. He has a good weapon in Bowers but not much else. I think Seattle mighta got a little worse now. Darnold's not the answer but its the best they can do now.

I would MUCH rather face Darnold twice a year than Smith. Geno can spin it, he just needs an OL.... like any other QB.
Not sure if I am 100% in this camp, but I do not fear Sam Darnold and I do think Geno Smith is a good move for the Raiders. IMO, Head Coach Mike MacDonald is trying to reshape the Seahawks, problem is, sometimes when a Coach feels, he needs to reshape the roster to win more than 9-10 games, all of the sudden, he wins 6-7 games and is fired.

Seattle going into rebuild so when Rams are in rebuild in 2 years, they have a better chance of winning division

Best way I've seen this described is Raiders are now in that dread QB purgatory. They have a vet who's better than what they had the last couple years but he's not the answer. He's adequate and little more. You're going to have to pay him if you plan on keeping him but then you don't have a QB good enough to win anything especially in that division. They made the trade now they have to pay him or draft a QB, which to me is their best option, but are they going to get a QB this year? Seems unlikely so that means you're waiting till next years class. Are you going to be bad enough to get a top QB if not then why trade for Geno.

This is such great news for us.
I think people forget how we play vs Geno.

Like this one last year

In the last 3 years we've sacked him 20 times in 6 games and I think he's beaten us twice and both were the last games of the year when we were resting starters on the way to playoffs. I'm confused by this notion that Geno is anything special.

Trade negotiating: All NFL teams are permitted to discuss and/or agree to any trades involving players or draft picks. However, if a trade includes players on existing contracts, it cannot be finalized and processed until the start of the league year in March (see below).

I'm confused how this isn't tampering.
Parties can speak through intermediaries such as media personnel. Kind of like the report that Seattle is prepared to offer Darnold $40m. The agent can signal to the same reporter that they're interested in that.

Good move by the Raiders. Should be an interesting division this season.
