Considering how secretive the Rams are, I have quite a hard time believing they would inform the league that they’d take Milroe at 26 if he’s there.

If the league is hearing Milroe is a 1st rounded, I’d put money on it being other teams - not the Rams.

I don't believe the Rams will consider a QB before the 6th round and then take a flier on a developmental type. Next year I can see them being all in on their QB of the future.

If the Rams are taking a QB early, you better believe McVay would be studying every aspect of the player, hours upon hours, including many one-on-one interviews.

Unless that has been happening behind the scene… I feel there is no way in hell a McVay coached team “takes a flier” on a top QB without doing that.

McVay knows what he needs at QB between the ears.

If Milroe gets drafted in round 1, I’d prefer the Rams use a late pick on a small school guy like @Memphis Ram likes. I think it was Mellot.

I have a strange gut feeling that McVay likes Sanders. I guess I'd be ok if he fell to 26 and we took him (very unlikely IMO), but I'd be very against trading up for him.

Imagine the excitement of hearing that the Rams traded up in the draft with Loveland, Barron, W.Johnson, etc still on the board and then hearing Sanders is the pick.

Also I don't like this tendency of fans to act like what Darnold did was something any QB castoff could do. He struggled against our defense but many QBs struggled against our defense. Doing this fails to acknowledge that the dude clearly worked his ass off and had a strong season. It wasn't all Kevin O'Connell or the Vikings talent. Those things mattered but the player has to actually make the fucking reads and throws and execute the system.

There's a reason teams kept taking chances on Darnold. It's not like he's a JAG, dude has an arm and is accurate but just breaks down processing wise under pressure and not a lot of pocket movement.

That's still better than a lot of JAGs in the NFL.

I'd be pretty damn upset, but, I could easily see McVay liking his skill set and seeing him as a value. I pray he does not however.

The list of QB's who have had multiple mediocre years but also great years is literally endless.

I could add 50 more QB's to this list.

What is the difference in the bad and great years? Supporting cast/Coach/System.

ALL of these QB's have proven they can throw accurate, read a defense and execute the system at a high level when the surrounding pieces are there. Any of these QB's could have had a Darnold year with the Vikings.

To assume these QB's suddenly remember how to throw a football and read a defense and then have years when they forget again is beyond absurd.

I don't agree. 14 wins and the way he did it is an accomplishment. I see no reason to shit on what the dude did. And yeah, I know, my USC homerism is showing here.

By the way I am not saying he became a great QB. Just that he found a way to string together the consistency that eluded him earlier in his career. Now where he goes from there we'll see. Hopefully he doesn't do anything too good, since he went to a division rival.

I could be wrong but the Rams are set at QB this season so I don't see them drafting a QB in the early rounds. I do think it's possible they spend a day 3 pick on a QB hoping to find a diamond in the rough.

I am not disagreeing that Darnold is a capable QB. He proved something last year and good for him.

My point is the average NFL QB from Darnold to Mayfield to Alex Smith to Eli Manning -- They all are highly affected by their supporting cast. I even point out Mahomes drastic drop in production. Under the same Andy Reid but with an inferior supporting cast.

This is not to negate the fact that some QB's are clearly better then others.

I personally just think this years crop of guys are JAGs that are capable with good supporting cast. So, don't reach.

Some could argue for Ward, but again look at CJ Stroud and how drastically he fell off in one year when his Oline and WR's were not the same.

Darnold still has the same warts. I tend to think he’s worked just as hard every year he’s been in the league, as he did last year. He just finally was in a good situation. He had a good roster and a very good coach that focused on his strengths and didn’t look for him to save the franchise. Some QBs can play well enough in a good situation but they can’t elevate the talent around them in a bad one.

Matt Flynn and Kevin Kolb looked good as backups on good teams. They didn’t play well anywhere else.
