I'm concerned on him because of multiple reports that several teams wouldn't touch him until late day 2 / early day 3 due to processing concerns. I don't recall hearing reports like that on any of the QBs drafted in the 1st last year.

Im not talking about Dart specifically, just questioning the reasoning behind being comfortable trading up for a guy at 12 who might have very well been available at 26. Nix was a fringe first rounder like Dart is.

Agreed no assumptions on future classes. But we do know that Dart is rated 6.17 by NFL.com which would have been #6 last year. It would have been after Levis in 2023, after Pickett in 2022, after all 1st round QBs in 2021, etc.

Most of the time QBs that teams believe are franchise-caliber players don't make it to 26 because if a guy has long-term starting potential, a QB-needy team will take him early.

I disagree with your logic that a stronger rookie QB would be inferior to a lesser QB that has developed for a year because there are very few successful cases supporting the concept of a guy sitting, learning, and developing into a starter. We have Jordan Love and very little besides him in the last 15 years.

When looking at QBs drafted from 11-32 and outside the 1st round over the last 15 years, every long-term starter was ready to go sometime in year 1, typically early, besides Love (who BTW was rated a lot higher than Dart is) and Kirk Cousins. There are not many success stories of lower rated QBs that developed into long-term starters, but there are many dozens who didn't develop after sitting behind the starter.

Go back and review the scouting reports across the interwebs. Nix was rated a lot higher than Dart is. Just looking at NFL.com it was 6.39 Nix to Dart 6.17.

Stop. He was a fringe 1st rounder and that's where Dart is. I kind find reports that say each guy is 3rd round.
It is just silly to say you'd rather trade up to 12 for a guy then draft a guy at 26.
And the Nix that people are happy with now is not the player that many thought was a bust early in his career. Hindsight is a great post draft evaluator
Thing about Nix is that its all about Payton believing in the kid. And if the Rams draft a QB is about McVay believing in him. The QB I want is the QB McVay. wants, and if he doesnt want one, then I dont want him either

I'm still holding out hope that Van Pelt likes and can talk McSnead into attempting to trade for Joe Milton.

But it would be nice if McVay loves one of these QBs enough to take one in the 1st round. The Rams have got some big contract extensions coming up the next two seasons and a good QB on a rookie deal could keep things going strong for years.

I just hope the Rams are not in love with any of these QBs early in the draft. Next year is next year. Rams are charging this year. We have done a good job for the future lately in drafting. I want them drafting who could upgrade now and find the field often. A QB drafted now won’t play now unless things have gotten way sideways. Next year is the year and they might work on 2026 draft capital this draft. I guess they could take a QB later if he had solid backup potential essentially pushing Bennett to the PS.
 
It was like that last year, early on there were 3 QBs going in the first round and by the time the draft rolled around there were 6 first round QBs.

It is like that every year. Supply and demand are real.

If you sit back with some BS third round grade on a dude who has a potential future starting, you will never get a QB.

Too true! People sit here as fans and put their own grades on a player not remembering it's only how the team feels about them not us. And the only thing worse than not having a QB is having a QB who won't take you anywhere and having to pay him because there are no other options than to pay him.

Sanders is one player I do not want the Rams to draft. If they take him I'm gonna be pissed because I think he's gonna bust.

I just don't get into the name association bullshit. It's why I'm not going crazy to get up high for Manning next year. Sanders is not a bad prospect, but he's got his Dad's ego without the reason for the ego. Which at QB is a bad deal. Hopefully some other team makes that mistake.
