Absolutely. With the qualifier "that they absolutley love", doesn't that go for any position/player? If there's a TE who they absolutely love....or a CB....or a WR...or yes, a QB....take him. But this QB class isn't exactly brimming with first round guys, though that doesn't mean there isn't a future star or two who will emerge. I can't wait to see the direction they take.

I've yet to find any credible draft media person that claims to get info from NFL teams who say that there are more than 12-15 players overall that are first round guys in this entire draft class.

Some point out how the QBs would rate lower compared to last year's draft class but it's the same for most, if not all, the other positions, too.

I suspect we'll see a couple names rated at 2nd rounders taken in the 1st and a couple 1st rounders not going till the 2nd, maybe even late 2nd, due to this.

I think we're overnuking this Snead comment. Stafford is old, he's got hard miles, and he isn't happy with his contract. So I don't care what Snead says publicly, of course the Rams want a young QB.

Also Les is a deep thinker but he gives shit away that McVay won't give away in interviews. But in this case, as it pertains to a young QB, everyone in the league knows the Rams want one. So if you want to dip into late round 1 to get a QB project you like and the 5th year of team control, jumping in front of the Rams is wise.

This might be the most unpredictable first rd pick that the Rams have had in a long time...and that means pre-McVay, since he has only ever had two 1st rounders heading into draft night.

Do they take a QB like Shough that high? If someone jumps in front of them with an extra QB taken, meaning maybe 4 QBs in rd 1 then maybe someone unexpected falls to us. It will be interesting as they can go a number of ways with that pick.

This is really interesting... how many QBs do people think will be drafted in the 1st round this year?

I can't see more than two.

I think Dart goes earlier than expected and you see a lot of fairly plugged in guys like McShay & Cosell who seem to really like Shough. So if Dart goes early, does Pitt take a chance on Shough? If not do the Rams? It would come down to his interview and how smart he is... does he blow teams away on the board?

If Dart or Shough go in the 1st round, I hope one of them goes to Seattle.

I do think we might see once the 1st round is done a couple QBs come off in the 2nd due to inflation and teams not wanting to miss out who need a guy to throw in there (Cleveland, Pitt, Seattle, etc...) but I think they'll be loath to waste a valuable 1st on them.

I am hoping some team is dumb enough to take Sanders. Browns would be perfect. But my guess is he drops like a rock.

So I figure Shough goes before Dart because he projects to play soon. My guess is he won't get to 26 but maybe Pittsburgh goes Sanders or Milroe.

Thinking 2 go off before 26. But if it is only 1 that is even better. And if teams have a QB reach fest that means something good gets pushed down.

Kinda starting to feel like Sanders is the guy the whole 1st round revolves around.

I view it the exact opposite. "I don't care what Snead says publicly, of course the Rams aren't spending a 1st rounder on a QB."

In my view, Stafford is now happy as a clam. He and McVay went through the stress of a hard business negotiation, and now MS is glad to stay home in LA, with a significant raise, on a perennial SB contender. MS wasn't just "good" in the playoffs-- he showed he can still be elite. So in my view, the assumption is that MS plays in 2025 AND 2026. They've already done the hard part of negotiating... it's pretty obvious MS won't "truly" threaten to leave in 2026. I bet he and McVay have worked out a handshake deal already for 2026.

Which brings me to 2025. If MS wants to play 2 more seasons... and McVay probably wants to keep him 2 more seasons (providing his production doesn't fall off a cliff, and the last 2 playoff games would indicate that's unlikely).... then why would the Rams "waste" a 1st round pick on a QB who's probably gonna ride the bench for two entire seasons?

If MS and McVay "want to keep the marriage going" for 2 more years, to me it makes no sense to draft a QB in the 1st round of 2025.

Rams are all-in for 2025, and they have plenty of needs/upgrades at WR, TE, swing OT, ILB, CB, and so on. With Jimmy G in the fold, a developmental QB does nothing for them in 2025.

Again, this is all predicated on MS wanting to play beyond 2025. His public comments (to me) indicate he doesn't view 2025 as his final year.

Just my 2 cents...

In addition, they're paying Jimmy G up to $11m. I would've believed a commitment to a young QB if they didn't resign him.

He's only locked in for 2025, he's on a year to year gig. Did Green Bay waste a pick on Jordan Love?
At this point it's likely that whoever they take 1st can be a low impact player in '25 barring injury. Rams have really put themselves in a solid position of drafting BPA. Can see the wisdom in a top rated but dropped a bit OT,TE or WR who wouldnt need to contribute right away. And though it would be surprising, I wouldnt be entirely shocked if it were a QB

Actually, on the contrary. If they are committed to developing a young QB its a perfect scenario where the kid can learn from 2 established vets with minimal risk of being thrown in too early. Garoppolo is only on the books for 4 mill, he's not touching 11 mill unless he's the starter and playing high level. So its a great spot to draft say a McCord in the 4th round knowing he can be developed for a year before truly competing for a spot

It actually happens every year.

And then we will hear about so-called reaches and steals.
 
This is said to be a weaker draft class.

But the Rams are all in. The Rams are all in.

Bringing back the yearly mantra and just changing the year.

"The 2025 NFL Draft is not just about the 2025 NFL Season" & "Most rookies typically don't make an immediate impact."

The rookie draft class of the Super Bowl Champions Los Angeles Rams consisted of Tutu Atwell, Ernest Jones, Bobby Brown, Robert Rochelle, Jacob Harris, Earnest Brown, James Funk, Ben Skowronek, and Chris Garrett. Ernest Jones did the most in his 7 starts. Outside of special teams most hardly, if ever, saw the field.

We don't know what the Rams are thinking so you could be right.

But with this take you are ignoring two consecutive years of the Rams wrestling with an old and battered QB over money. So when the GM, who unlike McVay does tend to give up nuggets time to time in interviews, says that Coach wants a young QB, I am sure that is the truth. In fact I don't think there is any question he is telling the truth.

Only question is whether there's a QB whose future is bright enough in the Rams projections to risk taking him over a weapon that can help the Rams in 2025. I think that is the argument here. All this back and forth about Snead potentially being disingenuous is pissing up a rope.

The thing people need to realize is that if the Rams do happen to stay relatively healthy and with some luck and great play win the Superbowl, Stafford very well may decide to retire.
