Reported by ESPN apparently Puka was on the "Join the Lobby" podcast and stated his intention to retire at 30 years old. He referred to Aaron Donald's retirement and going out on top. Not sure what to think, hope he at least gives us 7 more great seasons before we have to pay a semi-broken receiver huge dollars to ride off into the sunset with another team. I would have added the link but not sure how when using my phone, technology challenged.

ya i was thinking the same thing...they all say that at 24...

retirement at 30... ok we'll see

love of the game... and maybe ... the money....

Then they get married and start having kids. Then they think, damn I'm going to have to send 4 kids to college and have money for their future. I promised mom a new house when I hit the big time and more money for the parents when they get old.

Lets get that extension working to set him up for life after football. Dont even waste time negotiating much.

That's 7 more years of great play. Let's make sure he is a Ram the whole time and doesn't even have to swear it.

I can't wait to see what working with D.Adams will teach him.

One 5 year $200m extension plus all his endorsements should be able to take care of that.

Of course I'm not seeing the context of the conversation but this type of stuff doesnt sit well with me. Aaron Donald played 10 years as an undersized DT who stayed on top by being an absolute freak of nature who was a workout warrior/legend.
To equate the physical grind of #99 career to that of a WR, it would be in like dog years.
Puka also watched Kupp broomed out the door after giving his heart and soul, and wants nothing more than to get back out on the field.
So again, hopefully I'm just seeing it out of context because it just sounds like "I'm gonna milk this, cash in, and get the eff out"

Not surprised. And frankly, the way he plays, his body may see a steep drop after 30.

In a way, it at least gives the Rams an idea to not extend him past his age 30 season.

Yo, this is the NFL.
There's a non-insignificant chance that he doesn't even make it to age 30 before retirement is thrust upon him.

6+ years is a long ways away. $70 mil/year AAV for WR's??
Let's see how things shake out a little ways down the road.

What's that old line?
