So apparently McVay wants to rest the starters vs the Whiners. I want to go over some scenarios for the Rams going into the playoffs.

1. The Rams beat the 49ers with backups, take the number 3 seed and play either Atlanta or Seattle at home. Then we go to Minnesota and possibly get a home game for the championship game. For me personally, I’m not looking forward to playing Seattle for a 3rd time. I know we smacked them last game, but their defense was deflated. And they’re going to get some guys healthy coming up. Lets hope Atlanta takes Carolina at home. Which leads to the next point.

2. We lose to the 49ers, Carolina and New Orleans both win, we take the 4th seed and get the Panthers at home. Seattle most likely beats the Cardinals which means they would get the Saints. Not a good matchup for them. Saints vs Vikings in a slug fest round 2. We go into Philly to extract our revenge and then have to go to New Orleans or Minn for the NFC championship. Either way, we would have a tough road as the 4th seed.

3. We lose to the 49ers, Carolina wins, New Orleans loses. This is my most ideal situation. But least likely to happen since Tampa Bay is a pile of dogshit this year. However, we could get the Saints at home in the wildcard and 99.9% of us would rather play the Panthers instead of the Saints in the championship game.

There’s plenty more ways it could go, but these are the scenarios I see playing out for the most part. If we win, nothing else really matters. But I hope we play Atlanta instead of Seattle if that happen. What say you?

Pretty much agree with you. I'd like to play the Falcons at home, then go wherever the road takes us.
I do NOT want Seattle to even be in the playoffs, let alone come to LA for another game this year.

I’m thinking we end up falling to 4th to likely play Carolina in LA and then we travel to play Philly in the cold. After that we likely meet up with Minnesota and Case in a dome game. After winning we prepare to play in the Super Bowl against the Pats for our “payback is a bitch” game. Really just throwing darts here. Oh well.

I don't ever believe backing into a comfortable position is a formula for success. I hope McVay plays to win, and win with gusto! Rest a few guys. Sounds like Barron and Ogletree. Hit it hard for 3 quarters and hopefully have Gurley, Goff, Wentworth and Sully, Donald, etc. rest in the fourth, up 31-13.

I, too, do not want Seattle making the playoffs. Just not a good idea. Come on Atlanta.

I'd like for us to play to win against SF, but that all said, I do prefer us playing Carolina in Round 1 and Philly in Round 2. I think we match up better to those two teams than Atlanta and Minnesota.

You know what I'm almost hoping for the 4th seed now so we can land the Eagles. Minnesota just seems like a bad matchup unless it's in the Championship game.

There is the likely scenario that we get revenge on the eagles, Minnesota, and the patsies. We already took care of payback in Seattle so id love to finish the year adding insult to injury in Philly, shutting up the newly crowned loudest stadium, and making Brady consider retirement.

LMAO you guys are all scared of the Sheshits? Meh...

Take a look at their forums they have a 38 response running thread wanting another wack at us!

You guys and them are delusional... we will whip that ass again. Maybe not be the tune of 42-7 but at least by 10! Mark my words and I'll bet my ROD $'s on it to!

I just want the Rams to beat the 49ers, and let the cards fall were they may!
We laid waste the Hag's and will again! Cum Nuton ( intentionally misspelled) and the Pussy-Cats would be 'No Challenge'!
I see the Falcons as a Big Feather in our Cap, so I want them! JMHO!

Agreed. The Seahawks are the easiest playoff matchup for us. We're better than them. We should have beat them by two TDs the first time we played them. We have better coaching and talent. We defend Russell Wilson better than any other NFL team. I welcome that team.

It won't be as easy as the game a couple weeks ago because we got all the bounces that day, but the fact is that we owned the LOS in that game. I feel confident we'd do so again in the playoffs. Atlanta is a much bigger threat to us.

Honestly I’d prefer the Rams to be a # 4 seed.
Avoid the Vikes as long as possible.
Win at home, then beat up Foles, then NFC Championship.

Honestly the Vikings don't scare me. We win that game, as well as the Eagles, if McVay uses Gurley like he's used Gurley against Seattle and Tennessee.

Goff in the cold, however... I'd rather us beat Carolina & then go to Minnesota.

I wonder if McV and co give any thought at all to potential matchups. There are certain teams that just match up more and less favorably than others - is there any thought in that room towards steering towards the best first/second round matchup or is it purely what is best to tune up this team and we prepare to play everyone who made the final dance?

Am I the only one that's a little scared of the Panthers?

I'm not even going to include the Saints, because I think they will win and IMO they're the closest to our level. It'd be a real shame if we had to play them in the wildcard round.

Our most difficult match ups offensively and defensively IMO:

Defensively:

1. Atlanta
2. Carolina
3. Seattle

Offensively:

1. Carolina
2. Seattle
3. Atlanta

Just averaging these, Seattle would be the easiest, followed by Atlanta and then Carolina. They have the type of defense that has been effective in slowing down our offense. I do think they would struggle offensively against us, but their defense could keep them in the game. I don't think Atlanta could stop us, and I don't think Seattle could score on us.

Yes I'm concerned with the Panthers! More than Atlanta or Seattle. I hope we play one of the other two first but it's looking like if the Whiners go try hard against us and we play our backups we might be the #4 seed.

4 seed is the most desired one simply due to the greater chance of drawing the Eagles in round two.

But keep in mind that a wildcard win changes that. IF the 3 seed loses at home--unlikely as that is--suddenly we find ourselves going to Minnesota again.

Again, though, you never know, and judging by what we can see right now the 4 seed is without a doubt the best one outside of the top two.

I concur in spades.
I get the respect thing...but c'mon - the Hags just suck at this point. I would love for the Rams to play them.

give me anyone but the saints in the wildcard, the eagles in the 2nd rd, and anyone but the vikes in the championship.
