If the Rams keep Jackson then I'd give Tyron Smith a look in FA for our swing role. Offer him two years at backup pay and retire with a ring. He gets dinged up, but the man can play.

If the Rams let Jackson leave in FA and plan on drafting OT then I'd sign Morgan Moses on a two to three year, as his pass pro would ensure we can keep Stafford's blind spot clean. Then you add that OT in the draft and plan to start him when Moses inevitably misses games. Goal would be to have the kid OT ready by the playoffs so this would require hitting on that tackle pick.

Though again I feel like if Stafford is returning at QB the Rams will simply get Jackson done. Only way they let him leave is if Stafford hangs them up or forces his way out.

The problem with Stanley is durability. Although he played all 17 games this season, the prior four years (2020-2023) he missed more than half the games, playing in just 31-out-of-68.

The problem with Moses is that he has been a career Right Tackle, with just a handful of games at LT. Maybe he could make the switch late in his career but that doesn't happen very often.

Both seem risky.

Definitely agree on the OT take as far as the Rams having to take a risk. Only reason I'm stating Stanley is because we may be willing to spend coin on Jackson but he may also wanna test the market. We could get outbid there and have to pivot to get a legit starter. To me, LT isn't something to be cheap about and Stanley's calling card is his pass blocking. Gotta keep Stafford upright. He'd be offered a short term deal but that also shouldn't stop us from drafting a OT because of that plus Big Rob just getting older.

Agree on the risk, thats why I'd sign him short term and still draft a good OT. This wouldn't be my first choice as I'd rather we just re-sign AJax

Calais Campbell is not a big body but he's always been a great run defender. I'd like him on a cheap one year contract.

He had 37 stops this year in 616 snaps. Contrast that with our top 3 guys in Turner, Rozeboom, and Verse (47, 43, and 41 respectively) with each of them having 900+ snaps.

Also Brown was good but inconsistent so I'm not paying him much.

He may well get a big offer. I wouldn't say Gaines got a big offer really, but, the Rams had other like guys to replace him. That may be the case with Brown as well.
Brown is still just 24 years old, so, to me, a second contract is worth it for him. I wouldn't break the bank either however.

Campbell is probably 40 lbs heavier than his listed weight as they usually are not updated.
He was very effective this year with limited snaps.
Honestly, a perfect rotational veteran guy for a young DL.

Yeah, Im surprised Gaines didn't get a bigger deal.
But, thats falling in love with a player that is home grown.
The Rams obviously didn't value him that much.

I’ve never thought much of Hampton. In fact Brennan Jackson might be better than both & signed longer ! His upside is a lot better.

He learned a lot from Hoecht. He is another player imo The Rams should have signed to a longer deal.

It will be interesting to see what the Rams do with Hoecht.
He might well attract a large pay day given his production and versatility.
That said, he is probably best served staying with the Rams where he has his role carved out.
I liked the Jackson draft pick a lot, but, he seems a little stiff and slow footed although a stout edge.

I looked at some of his tape. Doesn't seem to have a great burn speed, but a solid player with a higher floor and knows how to look for the ball. McVay would probably consider him.

Kupp was not fast out of school, but they show grit in comparsion

Rams have a decision to make on Brown this year in FA.

For myself... Look I respect that the dude turned it on down the stretch and when he's on he's on. But he's part of the reason we started slow. And we need to get away from that. Also this DL class is loaded. Rams can find run stuffers well into this class.

I think the key with FA this year is to first off remove one of our most glaring positions of need. So CB (DJ Reed, maybe Douglas or Ward) or X (Higgins) would be a great start as they are top needs in which the FA market has top answers. Also depending on how the Rams value the roles internally this offseason, ILB (Bolton) and C (Kelly) would potentially help us, though I think in both cases the return is potentially not that great depending on how young players in those positions develop. Now in the case of ILB if Shula highly values his early down look and wants a great pairing, does Bolton and Speights do it for him or are we better off adding the position to the draft list. DL isn't much to look at but Calais Campbell is a fit if he would be cheap and knows he's stepping into a mentoring and rotational role.

For myself best approach in FA is chase Higgins or Reed the moment the tampering period opens.

FA doesn't really offer any TE options. Plus the Rams already paid for a disappointing TE addition on the FA market and the draft is loaded with them. WR once Higgins goes off in FA isn't much better than what we've had so the draft feels best there too if they don't sign him. LT has some options similar to Jackson but they are much older, so that position is all about do we want to pay him or draft the position, which in turn relates to Stafford's availability I'd say. Safety just got inked last year in FA. CB is much cheaper in FA if you're after a slot, which there is one in Hobbs who brings good size/length though he has a history of getting injured.

Problem is there are only so many picks. And only so many in the first few rounds. So what's the draft list of positions and do they line up with the positions that are well represented throughout. Seems like the positions they need do line up nicely. TE is the best class I can recall. DL is deep. CB is deep. WR is deep. So it feels like this roster has a chance to be very strong if they can hit on the picks again.
