I'll say this too about my experience at RRF, the Sam Bradford debate separated that board almost as much as the Rams moving to LA did. Man, Old Larry created more vitriolic discussions than any politics thread

Similar at the SH Rams board. The Bradford debate divided everyone into clicks and the move iced the board. Crickets there now.

I have visited lots of boards and been a member of a few. Prior to here, I was most active on that trainwreck the PD. When Paulie talked to me about the place he was creating I jumped. Then that sank into the swamp. ;)

So he rebuilt it as ROD. I've been here ever since. Yeah... I've poked around at other sites but they all feel clunky and then I see posters doing shit that made me leave the PD board.

I don't think between owners or moderators, we are concerned about members going to other boards. Money is not being made off our members and maybe that helps in that but honestly, I think it is more the vibe between us all. This is supposed to be fun. We all just try to keep it that way and only butt in when we feel something or someone is screwing with that vibe.

I've met several of you and have enjoyed my time with everyone I've met. I also find it VERY rare that we have a member I wouldn't want to have a beer with. After all... over the years the old saying holds true. Misery loves company.

So fast forward to now.... I just don't have the time, desire, or patience to go to other sites - especially when there is nothing I can find there that I haven't already read here.

the rams talk board was like hockey in the 80's and 90s. you would go to see the fighting and hope the game was good. sadly, the fighting got old and i was lucky enough to find this site (i believe someone on that site sent me the link, not sure). this site has more than just rams info on it. i'm moving away from professional sports as pay scales are outrageous and now politics, etc are interweaving into what once was an escape from all of that. thankfully there's still threads such as make us laugh, dumbass of the day, boobies, song of the day, etc that keep my interest. as long as there's freedom of choice in this country then my choice is at this site as there's a lot more interesting discussions, etc available than i've seen at other boards (and not just rams' sites).

Well said @SWAdude and equally so Stu.

It sure helps that the core group of leaders here are and never were interested in anything other than healthy shit. No agendas, no egos.

We may have the occasional dick size contest, I mean it is sports afterall and we’re a competative race, but if you choose to let that be who you always are, chances are some of these other sites may be better suited for you anyway. Since everyone here is treated equal, if you happen to get a direct message from a Mod, then you’ve earned it but you’ll be granted the time to self evaluate.

So i wouldnt consider it recruiting. If you as a member recommend anyone to this site then you already know they would fit in and instead of recruiting, you’re simply doing them a favor.

I remember my time on RamStalk. I remember having the audacity to be complimentary toward the 2010 draft. I got flamed so hardcore that you probably could've made a nice bonfire with toasted marshmellows and cooked an entire barbeque for the whole forum with the sheer amount of fiery, ah...comments, shall I say?

But yeah, I hated RamStalk at the end. It was a free-for-all, and the mods had skin so thin, you could probably see right through them like an X-ray. Banned people for trivial reasons while ignoring the shit that happened on a daily basis.

Thank fucking fate I saw X's banner advertising for ROD. Went here, and I never looked back or joined another site.

Thanks to everyone for your responses. Obviously I am not alone in changing sites and struggling with it a bit.

Each site has their benefits, I am grateful @dieterbrock and @SWAdude were here when I checked out ROD. Then seeing @snackdaddy and a bunch of names from RRF along with the PD board helped.

Not a great thread to start, but needed for a little sanity!

Any folks migrate from Turd Show Times? I know @DaveFan did.

What about the debate about Warner vs Bulger at the PD? lol

Only slightly more entertaining than the Bradford/Suh debate.

I joined a forum after the Warner left. So I never got into that debate. The Bradford/Suh debate was just crazy. Turned people against each other. There were people who loved the Rams but rooted against Bradford so they could say I told you so. I was one who made excuses for him because, well, he was a Rams player, I tend to do that.

I still say the idea of drafting Bradford was the right one. If you have a guy that grades out to be a possible franchise quarterback you have to grab him. So the idea of drafting a franchise QB was the right one. He just didn't turn out to be that guy. Although I have to wonder how he woulda done had he not had conservative coaches that taught him to play not to lose instead of playing to win.

It’s the Fisher effect on Goff IMO. Thankfully, Fisher was let go before he totally ruined Goff.

they were glorious.

i loved how i could type one sentence and send them (the bulger guys) into a spin where they would come back with an essay. every time.

the unfortunate side of it was the trolls it attracted. the state of the board led to them taking the warner side as they would get maximum clicks that way. once they arrived it was the end for that board.

that's why the mods here are the best. any sniff of a troll and they're outta here before they know what hit them.
