Not impressed with the hands up BS displayed by the Rams WRs

Jrry just meant it was in the wrong forum is all. Not that I agree, but I know where he was coming from.

When the organization allows this they open themselves up to the criticism that in this case is completely warranted.

I want an explanation about what they (The Rams Organization) it promoting with this display. They allowed the players to do this now explain yourselves.

To me they are saying they think the thug who just committed strong armed robbery and then attacked a cop was some how done wrong when the cop protected himself. Where is their outrage over the same situations where it was a white male shot by a black cop? Where is the outrage over the black on black violence that happens ever day?

It makes me embarrassed to support this team and I don't deserve that.

The black experience in America is not the same as the white experience. It just isn't. A long time ago I stopped telling minority members how they should feel because I have not experienced what they have. I guess it comes from my 15 years of dealing with prison inmates, most of whom are minority members.

That being said, I don't appreciate sports being dragged into politics. In fact it really ticks me off. It will be interesting to see if Roger Goodell fines them for this action.

Since we have such a good rapport with the Rams FO I'd like to see someone come here and explain what they were thinking by allowing this or better yet a pissed off Stan Kronke going off on them.

Either way, I just don't care about it, its not a big deal. If they want to throw their hands up before a game and then put up 52 points by all means. I don't buy into the "minority's experience being different" idea. We don't know what it's like to be a minoroty, they don't know what it's like to be a majority. If you ask me, it's harder to be a white Christian heterosexual male in this nation than anything...other than Muslim. We are so fucking censored that we can not be ourselves. Black people can act like they damn well please, white people tend to be sympathizes and look the other way. A white guy gets in a fight at a bar and whoops someone's ass, they have to pray that he isn't a homosexual or religiously different or it can somehow get spun into a hate crime. Freedom of speech only means that they can express their thoughts without being arrested or otherwise persecuted by the government. It does not make these sentiments appropriate to express in a work environment or make it true that Brown was attempting to surrender when he wasn't.

I think you need to re-read the amendment you posted there... specifically the first five words. "Congress shall make no law".

And that's exactly why Freedom of Speech means exactly what I posted. It does not bar the NFL from disciplining the Rams' WRs because of this, nor us from thinking it was inappropriate. It only means that Congress (or other parties within the government) cannot arrest or persecute them.

The point is though that "Freedom of speech" really isn't applicable to the discussion at hand because no one's talking about the government impinging on it in all of this.

Sorry to harp on this, but while I'm not a mod anywhere at the moment, I've been a mod elsewhere before and it can lead to quite a bit of frustration when people misunderstand freedom of speech.

Juggs, this isn't remotely true. In fact, data points to the opposite being true. If you were in a bar fight, you are more likely, as a white person, to be given a more lenient sentence than a minority such as a black or Hispanic person.

It is not harder to be a white Christian heterosexual male in America. You get paid more for the same work, you get less lenient sentences for the same crimes, etc.

I'm not going to get into a political debate here but I had to say something. I've grown up in the South and you'd be shocked at the prejudice and racism that still exists here.

As far as the Michael Brown issue goes, all I have to say is that people on both sides have definitely misrepresented it but I think they should have indicted the police officer so more evidence would be collected.

Yep I know that. My sister married a black man. They are both passed now, but my nephews and niece do not understand my feelings on this subject. They are screaming for "justice". I know how discrimination can be dealing with my sister, brother in law and nephews and niece. Not to mention grand nephews and nieces. In 1992 me and my nephew were pulled over in Fairview Heights, IL for no reason. When i asked the cop he gave me a lame excuse. I just said ummm hmm and we went on our way. He pulled us over because my nephew was black (half and half). I know what the black community here goes through. I can see why they're angry. But the kid did attack a cop and you don't do that. Common sense.

One would think the Rams WR corps would maybe take some time to look at the evidence? Cooler heads need to prevail. We could use someone like Dr. King right now.
