I mean you could be right. It could be a "Paper champions" thing, but just based on the roster additions, the defense has gone from good to elite. The only concern now is if Sammy Watkins' departure is going to hurt the offense, and if so, will it undermine the gains in defense. That and edge rusher.

But things look very rosy down south.

To be honest, this Rams off-season reminds me a lot of the 1994 49ers off-season, when they snagged defensive players Rickey Jackson (15th all time in sacks), Richard Dent (9th all time in sacks), Ken Norton, Gary Plummer, Tim Harris (63rd in sacks), Charles Mann (58th in sacks), Deion Sanders, and drafted Bryant Young (43rd in sacks) and Lee Woodall.

They seem to be going all out to buy a Championship.

Come on! With all the signings, etc this off season and last...let's be cocky! I've already started in on my 49er friends. It's been over 10 years since this team has been jacked up with playmakers, so I'm gonna make up for lost time!

Admirable to come by and give credit. Why can't all Whiner fans be as reasonable as you? smh lol

Remember you heard it here first, We have this kid Josh Reynolds that's pretty damn good that will be able to replace
39 catches 593 yards 8 TD's.

I think we can agree that won't be to hard. Even if he get's 6 or 7 TD's we have Kupp or Gurley that will make it up. Dudes a deep threat.

Peters. Talib. Suh. Possibly OBJ.

Well, that's a wrap. The Rams will own the West this year. Wanted to be the first 49er fan to offer my congratulations. I hope you face the Patriots in the Super Bowl and avenge the Cheat Bowl from 2001.

I will return the compliments and admit your 49ers are climbing the ranks and this old NFC West rivalry appears to be on it's way back to being special again.

Those 90's years really haunt me to this day and that pos Ken Norton Jr. punching our goalpost. Outside of him and Turtle Stubblefield the rest of those players were pretty good. What are your counterparts saying on your forum?

Hey Garoppolo, ... meet Suh, Brockers & Donald.

You can't sack what you can't touch...

I mean, if he can survive the worst guard in the NFL playing right tackle (Zane Beadles) blocking Calais Campbell, he should be able to survive those guys being blocked by significantly better linemen than Beadles at tackle.

If it were them alone, I'd be confident in Jimmy G's progression and release speed to compensate. The problem is the two great corners just signed. You can't get rid of the ball quickly if WRs are blanketed.

The only thing that will save the 49ers vs. the Rams is a strong outside zone running game. If that's shut down, it's over.

Mostly terror, but one guy said this:

"I’m not worried though you cant sack a guy when his release and progression is faster than a Kardashian spreading her legs for someone famous."

49ers’ Pierre Garcon on Rams’ additions: ‘They still can’t stop us’
Garcon is confident he and Marquise Goodwin can get it done next year, despite the addition of Ndamukong Suh and a slew of other high-caliber players by Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Rams have added a whole lot of players this offseason, culminating in the addition of Ndamukong Suh to the interior of their defensive line. Pairing Suh with Aaron Donald is scary, and is right up there with the combination of Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters in the secondary.

But, at least one 49ers player isn’t too worried about it: wide receiver Pierre Garcon. He took to Instagram to say that the Rams “still can’t stop us,” while tagging fellow receiver Marquise Goodwin in the post, along with the hashtag #KeepWinningOnPaper.

Treading the line of homerism here, but I’d say the 49ers are pretty well-equipped, from an offensive scheme standpoint, to not be in panic mode following the Suh signing. With Jimmy Garoppolo’s quick release, the skillset of the receivers on the roster and the potential for Jerick McKinnon and Kyle Juszczyk to really shine, the 49ers have ways to deal with what the Rams have done.

But they sure are going for it, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the 49ers can’t contain them. Garcon, though, seems like he would be!

Is he talking about our 2nd stringers from week 17 2017 can't beat them? I'm confused..

Their only hope is the outside zone. If they can get that going then it will tire out Suh to an extent and open up the passing game. I think Goodwin, if he can get a good release, can burn both of those corners. And I think Garcon can run good enough routes to get a split second of separation. But with those two tackles, timing is bound to be disrupted. That is why I am confident the only chance the 49ers have is the outside zone. Certainly the run up the middle will be no threat.

Well, if we're talking about 2017, the 49ers lost by two with Brian Hoyer at QB, if you recall.

That said, the 2018 Rams are not the 2017 Rams, and unless Richard Sherman returns to All Pro form, the 49ers haven't improved all that much defensively. As for offense, the line is now better, and with Garcon returning, so are the WRs, and I feel the running game is a lot better with McKinnon over Hyde (due to scheme fit), but the gains the team made pale in comparison to the gains the Rams have made, I think.

The draft is still to come, of course.
