The chain system was always iffy. This new system should be more accurate. Lots of mistakes get made with ball placement.

I think it was more accurate than people gave it credit for, the fact that it was 2 guys with a chain made it easy to dump on it but hey the Egyptians built the pyramids without computers or lasers. Technology has been going to solve all these problems since instant replay came along and it’s never enough. Before replay people would lose their shit over blown calls and then replay was going to allow officials to see what happened.
Tennis has basically eliminated arguments over line calls with Hawkeye but there are a lot more variables in football.

Yes. Just embed a ball forward progress number on the film. You'd need a timestamp in the film that jives with the clock from the processor to allow for pulling the triangulation data, but that is easy shit.
