He was taken to the hospital after the accident. Nevada has very strict DUI punishments when it results in a fatality. No doubt his blood was taken when they had him in the hospital. Other states aren't as stringent... but unless he had someone on the take in the police department and the hospital... they took his blood when he was there.
For the families sake, I hope you are right so they get some very small semblance of closure. Sadly, some young person's life was taken away from them and that just hurts for all the loved ones involved. I work in the medical field so I've seen this play out one too many times. It just plain sucks.

He was booked with a .161. Twice the legal limit.

Nevada due largely to Vegas and the casinos sell/consume more alcohol than all but two states. These things are very highly scrutinized here.

And there is no such thing as overserving by a bartender. The responsibility goes to the individual so he will likely go down for a LONG time - as he should.

Oh... And what are the other two states? I've never seen alcohol consumed like here. I'm stunned by the alcohol our bars go through.

Well... I do at times. Mostly when I travel long distances or going through a sketchy area. Sorry. Not waiting for law enforcement to figure out who killed me and my family.
Since there are signs hanging out to let you know what areas might be sketchy, everyone should protect themselves.

Well in my experience, alcohol makes you stupid. I used to get stupid to. I wouldn't even remember driving home. I was just lucky. Of course that was before MADD. A different time. But for the grace of God.
I know luck plays a part but one can only play with fire for so long before they are burned. Besides, these players nowadays have so much money and resources to help them not get into these situations. Poor decisions sometimes lead to nothing or towards a world of pain. Unfortunately this one is a world of pain.
