Star Trek Beyond

As a devout, knowledgeable fan of the original series, the first run of films, the next generation series and someone who liked and appreciated Abrams first reboot film for the most part....This looks like more villains and non-stop action.
007 in space. Yawn.

The concept of Trek has been lost. It's too bad too, because they really did a fine job of re-casting the reboot characters but the spirit and concept of exploration, the unknown and creative writing is long gone.

They are making a new Star Trek TV show for CBS , comes out in Janurary

Not a whole lot is known about it yet , but rumors say it will take place in the original time line and somewhere between Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country,( Movie ) but before the time of The Next Generation (TV Show )

Their calling it a “seasonal anthology,” meaning that the setting and time period could change with each season.

They also said it will “not be set on an Enterprise ship , not sure what that means , some other class ship maybe ?

Nicholas Meyer has been added as co producer / writer , he's the guy who directed Wrath of Kahn , Bryan Fuller will also be producing , he got his star writing Deep Space 9 and Voyager

For several years, on my landscaping crew, we had this long heavy digging bar, and a huge sledge hammer. We called them the BFB and the BFH. That stands for the Big Fucking Bar, and the Big Fucking Hammer. So you can imagine what I first thought when I saw the commercials for the BFG.

Good points, and it seems this happens to "franchises" often.

Good writing is in the backseat, in the front is special effects and attractive actors/actresses.

Not a trailer

but...........
