I'll throw one out that most probably haven't heard of and that's Tarja Turunen formerly of the band Nightwish.

You guys have listed some fine singers , but most of them I wouldn't exactly call them unique

My Sisthren!

I have loved her since the Sony and Cher Show. My Mom pointed out to me back then that she was First Nation like me. There certainly weren't many to see back then that were admired like she was. Her song Half Breed runs through my freaking veins...

She was so fucking HOT back then too. Sony hit the all time jack pot. I can clearly remember wondering why Cher was with him... lol.

Three who haven’t been mentioned yet:

Siouxsie Sioux
Julianne Regan (All About Eve)
Maria Frantz (Heilung)

Um no one has listed Pat Benatar?
I always thought Pat Benatar was a great singer , but I never thought she was unique , I actually think the chick from QuarterFlash sounded just like her

there are of few of there songs , when they come on the radio , I'm never 100% which ones singing it

Sony and Cher was must see TV in my house when I was a kid , my mom always had to see what Cher was wearing that week , or not wearing

I think alot of people were trying to figure out how Sony got Cher

Sony was just a great human.
Very smart as well.

Cher is definitely in the unique category.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say they disliked her, either.
What’s not to like?

As far as Pat Benatar. She is a great singer.

I liked Quaterflash as well. Still do, actually.
It’s just not a band that gets played for some reason. Even on 80’s channels.

Unique you say?

Gotta go with

Alanis Morrisette

Stevie Nix

Patty Smythe

Janis Joplin

Cyndi Lauper
