Draft picks

Bradford @ no 1 for me. Showed so much promise as a rookie. Who knew that would be the high point of his Ram career.

Brian Quick. Then-WR coach Ray Sherman did the Aaron Rodgers championship belt pose when the Rams drafted him. 10 TDs in five seasons.

Greg Robinson. Paul Boudreau said he was more talented than Willie Roaf.

Free Agents

Randy McMichael was a 60 catch guy with the Dolphins and a 30 catch guy with the Rams. Infuriating.
Cortland Finnegan. He was probably a top 10 corner his last year in Tenn. We got one good month of football from him.

It was also the Rams scouts and maybe other teams valued him similarly (#2 overall). It wasn't just Kiper and McShay.

How does OG Joseph, FA from Tampa, not make anyones list of bad FA signings? He's near the top of my list, ahead of Jason Brown, Greg Bell and Scott Wells.
Totally forgot about that shit bag! Lol was dog turd awful

Everyone has mentioned some real letdowns. Not hard with what the Rams have drafted and grabbed in FA in the last decade. Just surprised no one mentioned this FA dud....

*oh yea, drafting Justin King who sucked and allowed Torrey Smith to score three touchdowns on his first three receptions ever in the NFL all in one game and all in the 1st quarter. King was so fkn bad.

I agree about Jason Smith, without a doubt. Supposedly he had the highest potential of any OT in that draft, my expectation was so high, only to be bitterly disappointed...Along with his high draft position, that's why he was the worst since Martz. The other guys above, were Martz fails, which I excluded the List of Fail....lol

Whenever I hear an expert say that a player has potential, all I hear is, "He sucks now, but he can be better... in theory." Give me a player with a high floor any day. The ceiling is always above the floor. Dear God Jason Smith was terrible.

Long was solid, but he was also the #2 overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. He was supposed to be our monster 4-3 DE, and he turned out to be just solid for 40-50 million dollar contract. Not his fault, of course...No Pro Bowls and No All pro honors as far as I know, hence the disappointment. I expected much more myself.

Bradford got the OROY by dinking and dunking. He was supposed to be a franchise QB, and our guy for a career if he was...He did not make those around him better, and had to either have everything perfect for him to succeed...or it had to junk time where defenses were just playing prevent defense because they were far ahead. It was a bad year for rookie QB talent if memory serves. Sam was disappointing to me because he was supposed to be our guy for his whole career, and was just a highly paid lower level starting QB...Injury pron, to boot!

Bradford made everyone around him better. He has done so consistently. The guys he was playing with? Gibson - never played well again. Givens - was never better than with Bradford. Lloyd - had his best season with Bradford. Salas? Same. Pettis - couldn't play without him. Kendricks - looked ok with Bradford, never performed again. I could go on. He did the same in Philadelphia with Celek, Ertz, Agoholor, Matthews etc. And last year in Minnesota - Diggs, Thielen and Rudolph all had the best years of their careers. Those are facts.

I understand the disapointment with him, but it was just pure bad luck that he hurt his ACL and it obviously wasn't repaired right the first time. Then they gave up on him. He's no longer a 'lower level' starting QB. He probably never was but has played his whole career with lower level marginal starting quality talent. The guys he's played with he's made better.

What he hasn't done is turn the ball over much. As a result he gets called a 'checkdown artist' or 'dink and dunker'. Its a dink and dunk league. Brady is dink and dunk.

Still. All that said, I think he was ultimately disappointing for the Rams because he should still be a Ram and be leading us to superbowls. I get your point about C Long as well. He had talent and gave his all, but wasn't perhaps the star you'd expect with a number 2 overall pick.

There were a lot more 'bad' picks and free agent signings than those two guys though. Tye Hill. Adam Carriker, Alex Barron, Jacob Bell, Scott Wells, Isiah Pead, Brian Quick, Lawrence Phillips, Klopfenstein, etc

Edit - Justin King! He was so bad I forgot about him. Edit 2 - Jason Smith - the pick we're still trying to replace. Edit 3 - Greg Robinson. Out and out bust. Very disappointing.

The only thing that I would agree with everyone one on.......that list is WAY TOO LONG!!

I'd trade Goff for Bradford right now in a heartbeat. And anyone that wouldn't is obviously delusional.

Ummm..just no.

Goff deserved a real coach, with a real Oline (honest to god Pro Bowl LT a decent Center and the rest re-positioned so the most talented guys start). Gurley will be better and Goff will be able to have more than 2 seconds in the pocket before getting hit, and you'd be delusional to write a guy off so soon for old Sam Bradford. Goff still might Bust, but to say anyone wanting to wait more than 8 starts before making that call,delusional....Is just plain crazy.

Way too many to list. You're talkin almost 15 years of poor off seasons...

It's YOUR job to synthesize the worst of the worst! I personally rank the fails that are highly drafted, more than FA's....Although, Jake Long with his supposedly strong ability at LT ruined a season or two for me. Bring your list, BIG BOY!

I totally forgot the bad FA signing the Rams had and that was with Jason Sehorn. There was the game against the Panthers and Steve Smith juked Sehorn so badly that the Panthers ended up winning the game in double OT and advanced to the NFC Championship in 2003. That was also one of the worst FA signings.

It's funny that Martz mocked Jason Sehorn when he was still a Giant "We just run by him"....then Martz signs him...lol

Yeah, i know that we could include Martzian fails too, but hey, we don't want a book here...:headexplosion:

My List:
1. Jason Smith
2. Jake Long
3. Sam Bradford
4. Drew Bennett
5. Greg Robinson
6. Tye Hill
7. Scott Wells
8. Chris Long

*don't hate me about Chris Long...I loved the guy, but I expect a lot from a 1st round, Top 2 selection
Chris Long looked like Superman compared to our last couple top 2 selections.
