Has he committed some kind of misdemeanour??

Wow that was quick , I thought the backup guys played great but not good enough to cut Alexander .

What's your thought on this ?

.... That's a lot of trust in John Johnson the rookie. Get well soon Joyner.

Edit: wait wtf. Why didn't we just trade him? He had a good year last season

Puzzling because I don't see the need, from a numbers perspective.

His shoulder was heavily taped so he might well have been playing injured. He has been playing poorly and is also quite raw, but we knew that when we drafted him and that he would be a developmental project. He's still young. It's also good to have depth. Injuries happen all the time. Not sure I see the point. Maybe they didn't like his attitude or something. I'd have kept him longer yet. Giving up a bit too fast IMO.

Johnson played very well vs. Seattle. Credit to him for giving the staff the comfort to do this.

EDIT - I see it was to make room for Thomas. Never been a huge Thomas fan but fair enough.

Why didn't we trade himmmmmmm

I shared the same thoughts, but I'm sure Les probably had a smaller window of opp to get rid of him and no one was going to bite, although he was rated high on PFF's charts last year if I'm not mistaken. Wish we could've fetched at least a sixth from clev and reunited him with williams.

Ahh well! Peaceeee

P.s. LOVE Snead and Mcvays no none sense, keep everyone on their toes approach! No stone unturned baby!!

It's production related. He's been struggling from day one in this scheme and hasn't really improved game to game. Them making him inactive was a move that probably could have been made a week earlier than they did.

He probably didn't take the demotion well, is my guess. But it's also possible they looked at him and decided he's just not a scheme fit. That happens in this league.

Hope this is a sign of more moves to come, too. Mo isn't the only holdover who's a non-fit and overall not a part of this roster's future.

Lol I agree. Produce or move aside so the youngsters can give it a try. Excited to see Johnson moving forward. Maybe Samson and ejuan will push some of the other starters out

Well if his shoulder was injured as previous poster alluded to, then maybe he wouldn't have passed a physical.

I'm told waiving S Maurice Alexander is strictly performance based. Rams feel like rookie John Johnson, who made the game-ending tackle against the Cowboys and had an interception against the Seahawks, earned his shot. Rams also like what they have in other safeties Cody Davis, Blake Countess, Marqui Christian and Isaiah Johnson more in certain roles -- including special teams -- and felt it was best to part with Alexander now. He is in the final year of his rookie contract.
