is he trade bait, or will we see him on the field for the Rams this week?

I think the Rams are doing everything they can to avoid exposing him to waivers or even the practice squad. As long as the team stays healthy, they can afford to keep the extra WR, but a handful of short term injuries at other positions could force their hand.

Trade bait? Seriously? He can’t even get on the field and your asking “ if he’s trade bait?”

Reminds me of,

“ Playoffs, Playoffs, your talking about playoffs?”

Take it easy buddy haha,

But i see your point, the guy hasn't played a snap this year and i've seen post saying he could take over for Sammy Watkins...huuuuuuuh???

Those people thinking he might take over for Sammy are on one. But hey, I hear Kool Aid is in style this time of year! Lol

I think he will be active sooner rather than later. His teams contributions will drive that, and I'm eager to see him in the pattern too, so we can see to what extent he's improved his route running.

He was establishing himself nicely as a deep threat in camp, so there's room to think they'll get a look at him out there.

Good Question Rhody(y).

Here's some of my thoughts......TA is fired from Punt Returns. KR P.Cooper who has done well @ that assignment picks up the TA mantle & does the same @ PR....meanwhile Mike Thomas who had appeared to be a decent KR is out of an assignment due to PC play.

Rams have been free of injuries in the large in numbers WR unit. Woods, Kupp. Watkins, Cooper, Reynolds & Tavon Austin & now Mike Thomas would come into play. The amount of time missed while he served his SUP would have him way behind the bar too.

However there is some elements that are still lingering here....McVay has his short & middle passing game working fine but the deep ball is MIA. Sammy Watson has yet to produce in this area which is his game plus Goff has had issues in hitting his deep balls too. Both Thomas & Reynolds have the talent to work & improve this deep ball game but thus far they are still trying to get Sammy going ....& its not happening.

If Sammy continues down this same path thus far & Goff does not improve Sammy will not be resigned @ the amount he will desire thus he will depart in March 2018 making a serious need for Thomas to be on the roster. Thomas will be one of the lowest priced Ram players in the salary cap about 440K & is signed @ this ultra low priced until he is a RFA in 2020!

On the optimistic side I would expect that both youngsters Thomas & Reynolds could fill in the hole left by Sammy's departure. That's not a heavy task for either of these young 4th & 6th round Ram selections due to the fact Sammy has not done all that much.

This is just me......but I'd say......he is kept at least until after this offseason. Just in case things fall one way or another........

I'll take Reynolds ALL DAY over Thomas. I'm actually a Thomas fan but it's not even close to me. Josh has shown more this year (preseason and 7 games) than Thomas has in 2 years since drafted. I get he's a beast gunner on special teams but no way he should see the field as a receiver before Josh.

I think Reynolds could develop into something special if he gets a shot. Upside much higher than Kupp IMO.

He has zero trade value. We need to develop him

I agree with Ram65, if there is one game to get Thomas's feet wet its the Texans, who have terrible pass protection. The dude is fast and can get open, and with an improved Goff he should have no problem catching his passes. Thomas and Reynolds have too much talent and potential to be limited to special teams during their tenure here.

I have seen that Mike Thomas has the ability to get open. He's fast but he is also crafty with route running - some of this I have observed from him being a gunner. He knows how to get leverage on a defender.

Tomorrow is your opportunity to shine Mike!

(And as I typed that I realized that this is the Michael Thomas bowl)

The way I see it, Thomas, Reynolds &
Cooper are each going to have X amount of plays scripted, gonna need 4-5 of them to be well executed

Should be doable
