He calls a great game for the most part and puts guys in positions to make plays. Guys clearly like playing for him and he’s clearly a pain in the ass to defensive coordinators....

but man, this thing with not giving Gurley the ball when we are trying to chew clock and ice the game is crazy. He’s done this a few times now, going back to last year, where he can give it to Gurley and run out the clock, but he chooses instead to throw the ball. I appreciate the aggressiveness but there is no need to make it harder than it needs to be. Gurley is a beast and guys get tired to tackling him late. He got lucky it didn’t cost him tonight.

Yes I wish he would do some things differently at times but I wouldn't change a damned thing! It's part of the genius affect of him, he's going to be amazing at times and sometimes he's going to out think or out smart himself. We're fine as is.

One of my good friends is a Redskins fan, and when he was announced as HC, I asked by boy what he thought of McVay? "Good play caller but makes very questionable decisions sometimes" was his response. Cant have everything I guess.

Our run blocking has been poor lately. We couldn't run the ball all game. Three runs to Gurley would have been three and out. He wanted to get that first down to end the game.

Don't matter because it would've forced the Chiefs to use all three of their time outs. The fact that they got the ball back with a time out, to me, was insanity.

I absolutely loved him calling pass plays. its way too predictable to line up and just run it into a stacked box, and most times just leads to a 3 and out. Not to mention needing an additional 5 yards after the false start. Plus the 1st and 3rd down plays where both quick hitters that were almost essentially like a run play anyway. The 2nd down play was a bit more aggressive and risky, but there were 2 WRs open for 1st downs, just didnt work out thanks to great play by the DB

Nah, he needs to keep attacking. Last few close games we had to rely on our D to close out the game ( Seattle)

This has been a weak point for McVay IMHO

I’d prefer he pull out the KILLER instinct and put close games away with our fully capable offense.

Now then, when Talib comes back? The Rams should be better suited to close outgames.

If that ball gets to Higbee, we are in victory formation. Yeah, the strategy (from an announcers position....) would be run the ball 3 times. But Mahomes can throw the damn thing 75 yards so McVay was thinking about not giving it back. I get the frustration, but I also know what he was trying to do.

So in closing....he does have a few bad habits now and again....but it could be worse......

Higbee was wide for the first down - had he not batted that.

I do agree that Gurley needed more touches.

But I had no problem with his aggressiveness those last play calls.

How many times do you see teams 3 and out and punt and lose...

Didn't we have a false start by Whitworth to put is in 1st & 15? I didn't mind the first pass, and loved that Woods got down in bounds. Would have rather seen us run it on 2nd & 3rd. Having said that, if that ball doesn't get knocked down, we get the 1st and it is game over.

What kind of killed them on that possession was the false start on Whitworth. In fact Whitworth got beat a lot tonight if you factor in the flags.
A first down pass there does make some sense. Have the play you like and try to set up a second and short where you can hopefully run it up to four times (picking up a first in there obviously) in a row after the pass.
The first pass left them with 2nd and 11 and McVay was obviously going for the plays he thought gave them the best shot at a first down.
The play calling that was strange to me was running a draw on 3rd and 11 with Brown in....like settling for a FG when the passing game is tearing it up.
The exciting thing about this O is they are young and deep.
McVay is young as well and while he seems to have some lapses of strange play calling sometimes I wouldn't trade him. Very interesting to see where this goes over the next several years.

Jesus this is unbelievable. We score 54 points to beat an insanely good offense when our defense is struggling to get a stop and people want to complain he isn't running the ball enough??? WHAT?

Chiefs took away the run man. If McVay had ran the damn ball into the teeth of that BS we would have lost and fans would be callin for an intervention for the opposite reason.

Stop. Seriously.
