So, lets also take into account how they describe these "Tiers". I am fine with the rankings. If anything, I would swap Herbert for Stafford. See below:

TIER 1

A Tier 1 quarterback can carry his team each week. The team wins because of him. He expertly handles pure passing situations. He has no real holes in his game.

TIER 2

A Tier 2 quarterback can carry his team sometimes but not as consistently. He can handle pure passing situations in doses and/or possesses other dimensions that are special enough to elevate him above Tier 3. He has a hole or two in his game.

TIER 3

A Tier 3 quarterback is a legitimate starter but needs a heavier running game and/or defensive component to win. A lower-volume dropback passing offense suits him best.

TIER 4

A Tier 4 quarterback could be an unproven player (not enough information for voters to classify) or a veteran who ideally would not start all 17 games.

TIER 5

A Tier 5 quarterback is best suited as a backup.

I think the winning drive at the end of the Super Bowl was enough to move Staff up to the bottom of tier 1. His overall performance last year was enough to keep him at #6-7.
If he puts up a season that reflects his postseason numbers? He's in tier 1, no matter what.

Do we really need these assholes to tell us if our Quarterback is "Tier 1" after what we just saw Stafford do this past Playoffs? F the haters. Stafford is as good as anybody and there's NO OTHER Quarterback I'd rather have as RAMS Quarterback. Laughable to think we would have won Super Bowl with Burrow or Herbert.

Laughable????

Man.. I guess it's laughable to think McVay could've lead Goff to a Super Bowl.

We saw what Stafford was like in "other circumstances".. so, I'd really be hesitant to dismiss either of those two guys.

And..btw.. I love Stafford.

My overriding point is that Stafford is nowhere near tier 2. He's probably the best quarterback in the NFC right now or second at worst behind Rodgers. And yes, putting Burrow or Herbert ahead of him at this point in their careers is simply not accurate.

Burrows took an inferior team to the Rams on the Super Bowl and, if he had a better line... well.

Herbert? Well.. from watching him and looking at the numbers, his placement in that tier seems completely appropriate. Big throws combined with accuracy and good decision making and ridiculous size and athleticism. It's crazy to watch him.

I'd put Stafford ahead of Brady this year.. but that's based on me thinking Brady is finally going to have age catch up with him.

Ah yes, but THE MOST important part of Quarterbacking, experience and the mental part, Stafford has in SPADES over these 2 puppies. There is NOT A CHANCE that in this point in time that Burrow or Herbert is better than Stafford. And without the "no look" pass to Kupp, which I feel confident in saying those 2 COULDN'T pull off, there is no Lombardi Trophy. No Stafford, no Title. For the Rams there is no better QB. Tier 1 all the way.

Actually.. yes.. there's more than a chance. Feel free to discount the impact McVay has on a team, but I don't.
There are plenty of plays Stafford could never make at this point that Herbert does, you'd just have to watch.
There's no reason to argue about Burrow.. we watched him lead a very flawed team to within a possession of a Super Bowl win.

Again.. I love Stafford and would include him in "tier 1".. because he proved it. But that doesn't mean I can't appreciate other QBs.

Don't know where in the world you're getting that I don't appreciate other quarterbacks LOL

Well, the comments dismissing the guys seem based on where their teams finished.
Saying Stafford is making plays those two guys couldn’t make suggests you haven’t seen Herbert and the plays he makes that one or two other QBs could make.

I'm saying Burrow and Herbert would not have won the Super Bowl as Rams Quarterback in 2021. Just an opinion. I'm also saying I'd rather have Stafford as Rams Quarterback in 2022 than either of these guys. Not being disrespectful to 2 VERY FINE young Quarterbacks by saying that. Now if you're talking about a "rest of career" trade, I'd trade Staff for Josh Allen definitely, and Mahomes, Burrow and Herbert probably.

It’s a hypothetical, but I disagree strongly.
McVay has often spoke of how Stafford can make a wrong play call right… and Herbert & Burrow have that ability in large quantities.

Put them with McVay and that team? I’d say they’d win.

Extremely fair enough.

19 years no repeat champion. That tells you how hard it is to do. And one of the reasons the Rams have a real shot to do this is the QB. Stafford is going to serve up another lesson to the media this year.

I posted my top 10 in a different thread. I copied it here and put a line under my tier 1 guys this time, FWIW. I just don’t feel like the guys from #7 and beyond are among the elite QB’s right now. Arm talent, clutch, leaders, experience, Uber competitive, tough both physically and between the ears. IMO the top 6 here have more of all that sauce then the rest.

1. Allen
2. Rodgers
3. Mahomey
4. Stafford
5. Brady
6. Wilson
_______________
7. Herbert
8. D. Watson
9. L.Jackson
10. Burrow
This is the best list yet. I do think that Burrow slides in at the top of the second tier.

Burrow will be a top 3 guy after this season. His weapons are disgustingly good and he'll have a better OL after those investments they made in it. You can see some of these QBs who will rise/fall solely based on the teams around them. Couple others are Carr and Cousins. I don't love either of those QBs but the talent around them plus the coaching & gameplanning being there means production.

Stafford will be a top 3 guy too. Only thing that derails both those realities is injury. Because like Burrow Stafford now has some of the best weapons in the game. The media is just gonna need more processing time on him to get their heads around it.

Just a follow… these aren’t Sando's “tiers”, per se.
He talks to 50 guys around the league every year to come up with it and he has some turnover in who those 50 guys are.

So he talks to the Tennessee guy, who Stafford struggled against, then goes to the Baltimore guy, who Stafford threw a pick-6 against, then the San Fran guy, who has the Tartt drop on his mind, is still pissed about the great comeback in the Championship Game, and possibly had a hand in Shanahan/Lynch not offering NEAR enough to GET Stafford in the first place, sprinkle in a little Green Bay guy who's still thinking of "Lions Stafford" and VOILA, Tier 2! BRILLIANT!!!!!!!
