It is the motivation. The amount is the million dollar question.
Key word was "biggest" motivation.

Is it the biggest or sole motivation? That's the part we don't know. Like say the market is $65m, we don't know if he'll be fine at $50m or $55m with the Rams and a chance to win.

Its quite up there unfortunately. The other million dollar question is what is the Rams cut off for pay. I still unfortunately believe that money is the biggest motivation. I can see Stafford thinking he can make any team much better and rightfully so, he's a stud QB. I'm sure teams that want him are going to give their best sales pitch and be able to attract FAs a bit better as a result. The only way I see the Rams having a chance is if the dollars are close to what other teams are willing to pay. The more time passes, the more I'm losing confidence he'll re-sign. For now I'm going to say its 50-50 but I'm obviously guessing lol

Over and over again, Stafford doesn't have a no trade clause and doubt he'll veto a trade if money is his biggest motivation.
He doesn't need a no-trade-clause. Just showing an unwillingness to bargain with a potential trading partner kills his trade value.

If he tells another team that wants to play 3+ years on a new contract then he's probably worth a first round pick. If he just stares at his shoes, he's worth a fourth.

By the time next week's combine is over I'm guessing that the Stafford situation will be resolved one way or the other.

Rams probably don't need Brock Purdy to get a huge deal before it happens though.

And if the Rams cant come to a financial agreement with him, and are forced to trade him they can trade him wherever they want. If his team scares off would be trade partners then the Rams can just stick with his current contract and he can choose to hold out or retire.
I sincerely doubt that is how Stafford would want his career to end

So then the Rams don't trade him lol

Multiple things can be true at the same time. It can still be about the money and he can still say "fuck that" to a team like the browns.
Maybe so but I doubt he would do that if the Browns provide a sound plan and sell themselves to him (funny I know, but look at Washington who was a laughing stock). Honestly I hope he sees it the waybyou are talking about and that drives him to remain with the Rams. Unfortunately, I'm going to go with the fact that he simply wants to be paid, why else would he want a new contract? Why else would his wife talk about respect and feeling wanted? Those are all pay him statements. This is literally going to be his last big contract opportunity and the guy has a Superbowl already. There is rarely a player out there that says no to the bigger contract opportunity unless the Rams come close to offering the most.

That's what I keep saying. Did you even read my post?

A three party trade tequires some team (that stafford likes) being desperate enough to fork over what Snead expects. Stafford can't force a trade. And the Rams can't either (if they expect to get a good return).

This thing is Kabuki theater to help Stafford realize that there's no place like home.

if he stays, is he all in? or will there be sour grapes and lingering injuries all year?
