I'm not sure how it would be disingenuous. If one poor pass constitutes shitting the bed then virtually every QB shits the bed every week. The QB needs to step up and make a lot more good plays than bad and you hope they don't throw picks. Defenders drop passes all the time. That's generally why they are not receivers. Matthew balled out most of the game and had to escape sacks several times. He finished with a QB rating above 96 with almost a 70% completion %. How in any definition is that shitting the bed? A couple arrant throws? That's a pretty harsh litmus test. Your boy G-string threw for a little over 50% and should have had 3 INTs. He got lucky on 2.

You seem to think McVay should be able to get Grabmypole to get us to the promise land if he is as good as Sham-ahan. Yet Shammy and his QBs seem to shit the bed on the regular in clutch situations.

Sorry. But Stafford is still an elite QB and gives you a far better chance at winning the big games than almost any QB in the league and certainly more so than any rookie. G-string and other lower level QBs give you a chance to win some games with a stacked roster while choking in big games ala Darnold. Stafford gives you a chance to win with his grit combined with his skill.

I would agree Stafford is their best option if they really think they have a roster built to compete for a Lombardi. Cousins or Darnold ain't gonna cut it. Rogers might have something left in the tank with the right team. But he comes with baggage. If they move on from Stafford it better be because he forced it. If they get stuck with a JAG at quarterback fans are gonna be pissed.

Memphis can speak for himself but I certainly have read his comments to say if the Rams have to move on from Stafford, the Rams could compete with Garopolo, and should be able to based on the other examples.

Yeah, that's how I read him too. This is also my stance. Stafford is by far option #1 for me, but I don't think we're doomed to being uncompetitive if we go with plan B.

he was literally the only person on offense that didn’t crap the bed the week before, which is why the Rams even made it to the NFCCG. Saying he crapped the bed because of that throw is insane.

Well said. Playing that game with your own QB, and never noticing the human errors of the others is a great way to lack objectivity.

This is not to say that McVay isn't ready to move on though. Making more than you can earn on the field is the quickest way off this roster. So is complaining about contract or the ball. I think McVay is probably willing to work to get this done with the owner and Demoff because Stafford is the best option out there this offseason and he was the single biggest reason this team almost knocked off the eventual title winner in their exit game. But if the owner doesn't want to do it that's a wrap. It was Kroenke that made Stafford a possibility in LA. And it will be Kroenke that says enough is enough if that is where they're at.

If it's me and they move Stafford I would do two things:

1. Sign Garoppolo. This ensures you have someone who can run the offense. Also I would not pay him stupid money. Overpaying a lesser QB1 is the worst thing a modern NFL team can do to their cap IMO. It is the quickest way to find yourself behind the curve in this highly competitive league.

2. Position in the draft to take Dart. He's not ready to play day one. But Dart is a dog. He feels the rush well in the pocket and consistently played under pressure with good results. He is a good athlete. He has the arm and touch on passes that you want in the position. And most importantly the kid's got balls. Redshirt him behind Jimmy so he can learn the WCO and its intricacies for his first full year and let him compete for the job next year in camp.

The problem is we're not nearly as potent a contender without Stafford. So taking Dart in the draft would also be attractive to redshirt him behind 9. But this is a business sadly. And things seem to be trending to the Rams moving Stafford, at least in how the tea leaves look to me right now.

Completely agree with that approach. If you can't get Dart, I saw a mock with the Jets taking him at 7, take a flyer on Shough. He is moving up and could be an early 3rd. I saw Cosell on Colin Cowherd, he said he was very intrigued by Shough, but he was still evaluating him.

Sorry. But Stafford is still an elite QB and gives you a far better chance at winning the big games than almost any QB in the league and certainly more so than any rookie. Are we going for competitive or for a SB? Sure we could win with other QBs, but why should we have to when we have an all time great in our mitts. I will tell you this. I don't believe this team even sniffs the playoffs the last two years with out Stafford. They won't sniff the SB for a while without him.

Stafford isn't without flaw or perfect... but if we want to have a chance to win it it all, outside some other huge trade it's the only way right now.

I'm with you. I hope they pay Stafford and do what's necessary in free agency and the draft to compete for a SB this year and next.

The dilemma I see is, we have several big issues to address if we truly want to compete for a SB and I don't think the draft will be enough. So they will need to spend money in free agency. They may be hesitant to do that. If so, maybe it's better to sale on Stafford and position for the future.

Not a fan of Shough. He's got all the tools but I just don't get excited watching his film.

If McVay likes him though that's good enough for me. But my own preferences at the position require a QB who is courageous in the pocket, regardless of whether he's an athlete or not. I view athleticism as an advantage, but not when it means they cannot stand in the pocket with courage and see downfield.
