BTW, I just watched McVay's presser from today. In the last few minutes he talked about changes he is looking forward to making for next year. Talked about how we can't let injuries derail the season. He mentioned how the offense has to be more versatile from a personnel perspective and from a run perspective. He mentioned that he talked to Liam Cohen and noted how he likes how Tampa used Bucky Irving and their run game.
I took all of that as he felt the OL injuries shut down the offense because it shut down the passing game and the run game, with just Kyren Williams, was not dynamic enough to overcome it and help the passing game.
So seems to me that at the very least they are going to get a potential RB1 with Kyren maybe being back as your 3rd down guy. Or the new guy getting enough time to at least split carries with Williams/Corum if Willians is back. And the new guy bringing something different to the table than what Corum & Williams provide.
Also, I would think a playmaking TE can help a suspect or injured OL, and make the offense more versatile, while not relying too much on a down the field pass offense. So as we have speculated, I would imagine TE will be on the shopping list.
So to summarize he doesn't want this team to be crushed by a banged OL, resulting in a 1-4 hole out the gate. He wants them to be able to be good enough, versatile enough to play with a sub par group.
Now, one other way to do that is with a mobile QB. Makes you wonder if he wants to try to get that in this offense? My son thinks that is maybe why there are questions about moving forward with Stafford for more than one more year if there are indeed questions from the Rams side.
