Could McVay do with a guy like Jaxon Dart what Payton did with Nix? Not SB, but a playoff spot and a path to grow with a cheap QB contract? Can certainly load up the roster with a cheap QB.

Having said that, I want Stafford for at least one more year. They can win with him, but he will need a better running game as he gets older and the fact that Stafford adds nothing with his legs.

Plus, hopefully Limmer and Avilla improve to solidify the interior. The line is good, but not great. How do we get to great?
I was busy yesterday so I couldn't get to this.

I can't give an opinion on College QBs I don't follow College close enough, but it is time to start looking hard for a replacement however they can get one. For the next year or so though they need Stafford or all the ballyhoo about the great drafts the past 2 years is a waist of air.
Stafford knows this but I don't think he will try to break the bank. His priority is a SB to cement his place in the hall. So the contract will be friendly to both sides.
The Oline should be fine. I think Jackson will win the center position next year and that will make a huge difference.

Joshua Jackson effectively had no real training camp or preseason because he was still recovering from a past injury. If he mans up and beats out Limner, that can provide us with our strongest starting five in quite a while - provided we lock up LT Alaric Jackson and get a swing tackle to spell Alaric and Big Hav.

JOSHUA Jackson is gonna need more than a training camp to be effective. I think Reggie and the crew need to help him add another 6" and 150lbs.

What had Jackson shown you that makes you believe he can beat out Beau Limmer at center? He started a game or two this past season at center and was nothing to write home about.

He looked pretty good in the last game of the season when he was finally healthy. Granted that was at Guard, but the dude is a stud with way more NFL experience. But of course its just a guess. The competition should at least improve the center position.

I don’t know if Jackson can be better at center.. but I think continuity was the biggest issue in the game Jackson played center.

Maybe the Rams will re-visit the Avila at Center gig with Jackson at guard like they originally planned?

Puzzling after the season started. Avila felt out of place when the Rams signed Jackson. Not sure either are a true center. That's why I'm on ROD and not in the front office.

I just hope we can reload on offense if we stick with Stafford. No more relying on two WRs for the entire offense. Make sure the Oline is completely beefed up as much as possible and can protect him. With a coach like McVay there’s no excuse to not be a top 10 offense again. Which we haven’t been consistently since the superbowl year.

Lmao - it’s Mcvay’s play calling that’s been F’ing it up !!!

I am not in any way saying this will or should happen, just a hypothetical.

I wonder if Brad Holmes was injected with truth serum, if he would take Stafford back and try to trade Goff? Afterall they are at a point where they need to win it all now before they start losing key pieces to FA as there young guys will start getting paid in the next few years.

It's not really a mystery - Stafford wants to come back, McVay wants him to come back.

But Stafford doesn't want to play for peanuts - but the Rams have to keep it reasonable for cap situations so they can build the team.

Stafford would make the same basically next year as last year - a contract he agreed to, so seems like the ball his mostly in his court.

Stafford is going to be back 95%. Its the other 5% chance McVay is worrying about. He will need to start making calls ASAP if Stafford hangs them up. Only QB under contract would be Bennett.

For me, without Stafford, it's time to remove expectations of any Super Bowl appearances (let alone Super Bowl wins) in the near future. Before Goff and Stafford, we dreamed of having a competent QB, let alone a franchise QB. It's not a simple thing to lose a Stafford and replace him with some reject from another team. Don't bring up stats because that all chicken shyte come the playoffs, if we get back there in the following 5 years after him.
