Looks like you are in the mood to create an argument. Last year Stafford couldnt be traded realistically, so it was only a matter of when. This year is entirely different as the Rams could conceivably move on from him.

Two assumptions here. First, how do we know he's not willing to take a discount? The assumption he's not runs counter to Kellie's suggestion that he is willing to do so.

Secondly, even if he did take a discount, you're assuming the Rams would want to spend that money on keeping Kupp. It could be that the Rams feel like Kupp is done and they're gonna move forward no matter what.

Yeah, I think there's a lot of rose colored glasses out there on Kupp's decline. People are willing to concede that his injuries have kept him out of the lineup but not that his speed and COD were severely diminished and there's a greater than not possibility that he's on a downward trajectory and there's no bouncing back.

Additionally, it would just feel better to believe it's worth it to keep him for a year since the cupboard looks so bare without him at pass catcher.

Now, far be it from me to accuse others of having bias without adding some of mine to the mix. Rams have fairly consistently worked from the maxim, if "it's inevitable, make it immediate." They may want to cut bait even if there's a tiny bit of juice left to squeeze out of Kupp cause they favor beginning the process of evolving the offense without him NOW.

I wonder and I don't have a lot to go on here if they really want to be giving more snaps to Whittington (specifically) and the tight ends as a whole (Allen, Parkinson, Higbee, possible draft pick - think Long is gone in this scenario).

It really does seem like we're gonna see a wholesale change at pass catcher this year. It should be nothing less than exciting to see how it plays out!

100%! There are millions of people who would give their left testicle for Stafford to be gone from the Rams and they are all 49's, Seahawks and Cardinal fans!

I love Cowherd...but...

Does he really think we're going to get double Rodger's value for Stafford? The value of that #3 pick is about double the value of a mid-1st which is the equivalent value Rodger's garnered.

It's a nice dream but I'm guessing Mike Munchak has little interest in being a full-time OL-coach.

Munchak is a soon-to-be 65 year-old Hall-of-Famer. He was an NFL OL-coach for 22 seasons, and a head coach for three years. If he wanted a full-time OL-job, he could probably choose from half the teams in the NFL.

And Wndell is doing good as our OL coach. Don't understand thinking we need to fix what isn't broken.

Sure, however considering it took 6 months to iron this out last year, it doesn't appear that he is that interested in taking discounts. As for Kupp, yes another assumption, but Stafford haggling over his contract doesn't help in any way in regards to keeping Kupp.

My thinking is the Giants just sign Rodgers. But the Rams we all know keep thinks quiet and his wife goes on her podcast with everything

Would it be ok if we went by facts and not speculation?

After the July 2024 restructure, Stafford was essentially paid $40m last year. Which ranks 15th in QB salaries. Link below.

That is a substantial discount. That factual evidence and Kellie's implication that he's willing to take a discount are much stronger than mere speculation that he's not willing to take a discount.

Unless Rodgers has changed a lot, I don't see that happening. He demands certain things from his offensive systems that does not mesh at all with McVay's offense and scheming. (Ex. Rodgers doesn't like a lot of motion.)

It's all about managing fan expectations. A lot of teams factor way too much into that when making big decisions (never mcsnead though).

I think their first three picks for Stafford (plus our first three picks) is an easier sell to Giants fans than waiting for sloppy seconds from Jets.
