Former Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp has reached agreement on a three-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Friday.
Kupp was released by the Los Angeles Rams at the start of the new league year Wednesday, ending his eight-season run with the team.
He joined the Rams as a third-round pick in 2017 out of Eastern Washington, as part of Sean McVay's first draft class, and emerged as one of the game's best pass-catchers from the slot in the years since.
He had 62 receptions as a rookie, then topped 90 in both his third and fourth seasons.
But his best season came in 2021, when he won the receiving triple crown by leading the NFL in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947) and receiving touchdowns (16). He made his only Pro Bowl and was named the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year.
Kupp capped that season with eight catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns in the Rams' Super Bowl win over the Cincinnati Bengals, which earned him the game's MVP award.
After the season, Kupp signed a three-year contract extension worth $80.1 million.
But Kupp has dealt with injuries in the three seasons since, playing in just 33 games. In 12 games during the 2024 season, Kupp had 67 catches for 710 yards and six touchdowns.
After the season, Kupp announced that the Rams were trying to trade him despite his desire to remain with the team. But with him being owed $20 million this season, no other team was willing to make a trade, leading to his release.
For his career, Kupp has 634 receptions for 7,776 receiving yards and 58 total touchdowns (57 receiving).
ESPN's Sarah Barshop contributed to this report.

Reminder, in 2003, the great Jason Sehorn who played 8 years with the Giants released and came to the Rams at 31 years old. Sometimes, the team releasing the player knows when it's time to say goodbye. Lucky for us, the Rams only signed Sehorn for 1 year. For the Seahawks to sign Kupp for 45 million and 3 years is remarkable. I'm super happy for Kupp and his family and he gets to go home.

.

I don't care if he plays well against the Rams. I hope he does.

The seagulls aren't going to win anyway. That Rams dline is something else. What other team terrorised the Eagles line like that line did last season?

.
Meh… we’ll draft a top DB this draft and put him on Kupp and basically elimínate him.

Just like when Ike went to the niners, I will no longer be rooting for Kupp. I know the Rams cut him but, he had other options than to get in bed with the enemy. And, no Seattle was not his home.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba has had a lot of success in the slot. I wonder if he'll be as effective line up out wide.

Fuck him.
Makes getting over his release so much easier.
So much worse than Bruce going to the 49ers.

Well,

I am assuming most of us would have liked to see him retire a Ram or at the very least go to the AFC, but I'm not too bothered:

A. He just looked done last year. I think he had one good game when he came back from injury.
B. Injuries every year
C. He gets to go home. That's big for a player to get closer to family and get one last big contract
D. He was like a coach on the field so I guess its good that McVay said he was changing some things up on Offense.

Good for Cooper, he's closer to home now. I wanted what is best for him. I hope he plays well against the Rams, but not beat us. We just let a great player and great guy get away. This is sad. When he retires from playing he may even coach WR's there. He's so done with the Rams and he's going to play very hard to try to beat us 2x a year.

Anywhere but the fucking whiners thank god he didn't go to those assholes. I don't hate Seattle nearly as much. In fact I will cheer for them to knock off the whiners. I'll be keeping tabs on Cooper's record vs those losers. "Haha you could never stop him!"

A big factor in his success was the attention paid to DK and Lockett. He’s now the Seahawks number 1 so he’s going to get plenty of attention. Kupp will be utilized underneath on the shorter routes. Biggest issue for the Seahawks going forward remains their offensive line. It’s terrible at pass protection. Sam Darnold behind a leaky offensive line is scary. Seahawks are very active in free agency but have only signed one offensive lineman and lost two. Not a recipe for success.
